Just a month to go before Christmas and we share another guide to help you with gifting ideas and your shopping. Most of the products we feature can be purchased online, hence just follow the link and place your order for quick delivery.
Our Christmas Gift Guide for Home features five fabulous gift items which I know for certain you would want to purchase for yourself and your family and friends. We start off by showcasing some delicious festive preserves from Opies followed by a comfy Waffle Cotton Sofa Throw Blanket by Bedsure.
Next, we feature three festive Christmas themed Cushions from Terrys which would be perfect for your home as well as a Mandarin & Petitgrain Home Fragrance Gift Set by ARRAN Sense of Scotland which smells absolutely divine.
Finally, we showcase two French wines, the Chateau Haul Gléon Corbieres 2017 and Les Vignobles Foncalieu Saint Chinian Wine to drink this Christmas. Hope you enjoy our gift suggestions and stay tuned for more guides coming along your way.
We were sent a lovely hamper with some of the must-have Christmas food cupboard essentials from Opies, which are of the oldest private family-owned food company. Operating since 1880s, they offer a range of pickled items perfect for the upcoming festivities.
Cocktail Gherkins are fabulous eaten on their own or served alongside cheese as well as Pickled Walnuts which would be perfect as a side (or inside the Beef & Ale Pie or Cornish Pasty) or bake into a celebration bread.
Stem Ginger in Syrup is great, if you are baking ginger cake, cookies or cheesecake. You can also opt to Blitz a whole jar, including the syrup, in a blender and baste a gammon joint before roasting to give it the extra oomph or add a couple of the stem ginger into your homemade mince pies or mincemeat.
Opies Pineapple with Luxardo Spiced Rum and the Red Berries with Pink Gin are just magnificent and very festive when added to desserts. Finally, the Black Cherries with Kirsch is perfect if you are making a black forest gateau. I am a huge advocate of recycling and often only buy products sold in glass jars/bottles and not plastic. I love Opies jars as they are all made from glass and these can also be reused later as a decor piece or storage. Opies products are available from quality independent retailers such as Ocado, Waitrose, Morrisons or Booths
Bedsure Waffle Cotton Sofa Throw Blanket
There is no feeling like snuggling on the sofa with a good book and a cuppa hot chocolate with a Bedsure waffle blanket over you to keep you warm.
This must-have throw blanket is made from 100% cotton fabric and comes in two colours, blue and grey. The blanket acts as a throw blanket to be used in the living room in wintertime or as a lighter blanket in the bedroom during the summer months.
This lovely blanket also makes a fabulous Christmas gift to family and friends as it comes already wrapped in ribbons, so all you need to do is place it in a gift bag with some colourful soft tissue on the top.
The blanket’s waffle-weave design makes it more breathable yet it keeps you warm and toasty. I also love that you don’t need to iron the blanket after washing it as it is wrinkle-free.
The Bedsure Waffle blanket can be purchased from Amazon and it also comes in two sizes, single which retails for £16.99 and double for £21.24 (Do check the website for the latest price as this may change).
Christmas Cushions From Terrys
I love decorating the home with festive soft furnishing to make the house look Christmas ready. Getting gifts like these for your bestie, sibling or yourself is also fun so you can all have matching decors!
We have picked three Cushions from Terrys starting with The Ho Ho Ho Cushion which is a festive patchwork showcasing detailed lyrical typography and stencil illustrations, from Santa Claus to stocks. The second is The Happy Snowman cushion which has the robin as well as the Christmas wreath.
Finally, the third cushion is a Merry Christmas cushion that has the words as well as reindeers printed in gold on a soft red velvet material.
These cushions measure 17″x17″ and 18″x18″ and are currently priced between £4.99 to £6.99. They are made from either 100% cotton or a mix of polyester and cotton material. Some of these cushions are also reversible to give you two designs.
Terrys Fabric is a family run business with their warehouse in Staffordshire. Established in 1970, they try to keep their sourcing local. So a great way to support a small local business and to get your home festive looking festive in time for Christmas.
Mandarin & Petitgrain Home Fragrance Gift Set
This is a magnificent gift to give someone this Christmas, although I assure you, that you are going to keep this one for yourself!
The Mandarin & Petitgrain Fragrance by ARRAN Sense of Scotland is a limited edition festival range gift set that includes a 100ml reed diffuser as well as two 8cl candles.
As soon as you open the gift box, the whole room is filled with a mesmerising scent of mandarin orange with slight notes of cinnamon and thyme, which immediately gives you the Christmassy feel. ARRAN Sense of Scotland products are all manufactured in Scotland using the highest quality ingredients which are sourced locally from UK suppliers.
The Mandarin & Petitgrain Gift Set is priced at £40 and comes in a beautiful recyclable gift box that is inspired by the Isle of Arran which is an island off the west coast of Scotland hence no need to worry about gift wrapping the set.
Although the price may seem hefty, do note that you get up to 12 hours of burn from each candle and the diffuser can easily last you a few months depending on how often you rotate the reeds and how big your room is.
Chateau Haul Gléon Corbieres 2017 and Les Vignobles Foncalieu Saint Chinian Wine
I find that bringing wine to parties when I head out to visit family and friends is the ideal gift be it housewarming parties, birthday parties or even Christmas parties. Hence we are sharing two beautiful wines, the Chateau Haul Gléon Rouge Corbieres 2017 and Les Vignobles Foncalieu Saint-Chinian Petit Paradis.
The Chateau Haul Gléon Rouge Corbieres 2017 is a lovely deep ruby coloured wine that has aromas of black fruit, spices, pepper and cocoa and is best paired with mushroom risotto, duck breast, moussaka, meat cooked in sauce or with ripened cheese.
If you are wondering, Château Haut Gléon is an estate with a long and storied history dating back to 1223 and has since been bought over by the Duhamel family. It is now known as one of the jewels in the Languedoc’s winemaking crown and the estate has been part of the Foncalieu family since 2012. They also sell white and rose wines but we have featured the red wine which retails for £10.
The Les Vignobles Foncalieu Saint-Chinian Petit Paradis is one of the top 10 highly rated wine and has been awarded a couple of awards to date. With just 1% of white wines produced in the Saint Chinian appellation, the Petit Paradis Blanc is rare. Its flavour is intense with a burst of fruit and quince jam flavours which is soft on the palate with a long spicy finish. Priced at £7, the wine is best served chilled paired with monkfish tagine, ginger tuna or chicken with cream. Both wines can be purchased here.
