We love heading to Glebe Farm no matter what the weather is or no matter what the season. Located in Astbury, very close to St Mary’s Church and just about 10 minutes away from Congleton Town Centre, there is always something we can do at the Farm and its all for Free. The kids always enjoy playing in the outdoor play area which has lots of toys such as tractors, bicycles, rolling tube next to the slide play area. As an addition, kids can also take the tractor ride for £1.
Right opposite the kid’s play area you will find some outdoor farm animals. If you’d like to feed the animals, just pop over to the farm shop to get some animal fee. So far, we have seen animals such as goats, donkeys, sheeps, pony, chicken, birds in the bird cages, pigs, cows and many others. Some animals are also kept in the indoor barn area, where kids can go in to see, touch or feed the animals. Lots of hand washing / toilet stations around so that kids wash their hands before moving on to play areas.
This video was taken early this year, sometime around March, in the indoor barn bit, when temperature was almost 4 degrees. We enjoyed seeing the piglets suckling on their mother. Its really comforting to watch.
Besides lots of activities to do at Glebe Farm, there are also lots of shops there. The Cheshire Toy Shop has some interesting, traditional and fun toys to purchase, depending on the time you go sometimes they even put out toys for kids to play for free (which is great as its just next to the cafe and keeps the kids occupied while we are waiting for food). The ice-cream parlour which sells our favourite Cheshire Farm ice-cream is always a favourite, we never fail to get ice-cream, no matter what the weather. There is also the Select Fresh Fish Shop selling fresh fish and seafood, The Beauty Barn, The Pampered Pooch, Just Be Jewellery and other shops.
The cafe is a lovely place to stop by for hot food or sandwiches for lunch or even cakes and milkshakes for a snack. There is a wide selection of food and the service is fairly quick depending on the crowd.
The cafe also caters for Afternoon Tea if you fancy one. This seems to be a favourite, amongst visitors. The price ranges from £10.95 – £11.95 per person otherwise they have a wide range of cupcakes or cake slices to choose from.
The farm shop is a great place to get cheese, locally grown vegetables, a selection of confectionery, chocolates and ice-cream. There is also an onsite butcher providing fresh cuts of pork, lamb, beef and sausages which are reared locally.
