We visited Beefeater Springwood Park in Macclesfield recently to review their steak, vegan menu and kid’s menu.  With strong family values at the forefront of their business, the new menu is not only trying to attract the steak lovers but also the healthy and vegan crowd as well as families with young children.
We headed to the restaurant with our 7 and 4 year olds in tow for lunch and were served by the Manager on Duty, David who gave the kids their menu which was also an activity sheet. This kept them busy while we ordered our drinks and waited for our food to arrive.

Located at the Tytherington Business Park next to Premier Inn, the restaurant has recently undergone a massive renovation.  Boasting a more modern and stylish interior as well as a bar area, the restaurant now is able to accommodate larger groups both indoor and outdoor.

For our starters, we ordered the Loaded Potato Dippers priced at £5.29.  These dippers were topped with cheese and spring onion (we opted for the vegetarian version without the bacon).   Served with a cool sour cream & chive dip, a mice sharing dish if you are out with friends.

For our second starter, we ordered Garlic Prawn Pan which were King prawns grilled in a garlic & parsley sauce, served with warm ciabatta priced at £6.49. The bread simply just melts up the sauce and the prawns were succulent, all this served on a cute pan.

Our kids chose the veggie sticks and Garlic Bread which also came with some vege sticks and for their starters. For mains, they ordered  Bangers and Mash which came with mash and peas as well as Poppin Chicken (Breaded chicken bites served with chips and beans).

Kids have a choice of swaping their side dishes for mashed potato, beans, chips, brown rice, veggie sticks, peas or side salad.  Did you know that Beefeater’s children’s meals recently ranked in the top five healthiest in the UK as reported by The Soil Association’s 2017 Out To Lunch report.

For our first mains, we ordered the 8oz Fillet which was really and juicy. It was served with salad, thick cut chips as well as a portobello mushroom. Priced at £19.79, a hefty price, we thought it was totally worth every penny.  Its comes with an optional side sauce of Bearnaise, Triple Peppercorn or Rich Beef Sauce.  We picked the Triple Peppercorn Sauce for our steak.

We chose the award-winning Vegan Burger with BBQ Soya for our second mains.  The burger is made from soya & wheat burger, topped with BBQ pulled soya and BBQ sauce. Served in a toasted brioche-style bun, with fries and salad priced at £11.49.  We enjoyed the burger as it tasted really nice, we only wish it had extra fresh cut tomatoes or sauted onions on the top the patty.

We were too full for pudding but the kids could not resist to upgrade theirs from the standard dessert to the premium dessert which cost an extra 99p each. They had pancakes which came with chocolate sauce, stawberries and bananas.

As well as mini dognuts, which came with smarties and chocolate sauce for decorations.

As you can see, kids enjoyed decorating their desserts as much as eating them.

Here’s a photo of the bar area, the restaurant was quite empty when we arrived at noon but started buzzing with crowd around 1pm
Our verdict
What we loved:
We loved the food, especially the steak which was exceptional and we would head back to Beefeater again for it
We loved that the kids had a lot more healthy food option compared to other restaurants that we have been to
We loved the service provided by the staff especially David who was very attentive
We loved that there were lots of vegan and vegetarian option and that the restaurant caters for those with certain food allergies. Which only means its a great place if you are heading out with friends who eat different types of food.
We also loved that the restaurant was kids friendly and kids were kept busy from the start with lots to do while we, adults enjoyed our meal
We loved the deco inside the restaurant as well as the lovely pictures on the walls and also the fact that there was ample of parking at the restaurant with larger space
What we did not love:
Our 7-year old did not eat her sausages although sausages are her favorite, wondering why, we did try a bite and found it was not to our taste either.

It’s always good when there are healthy options for the children! I think places are getting better at this now. For me, I need a good gluten free menu before I can really rate somewhere. I haven’t tried Beefeater for a while, so I’ll have to check out their website. There’s usually a Beefeater close to most places we visit!
