Fancy spending a lovely evening of magical after-dark illuminated trail at Dunham Massey near Altrincham, Greater Manchester? Read on to find out more about the light trail which is taking place until the 30 December 2017.
Brought to you by leading events producers Raymond Gubbay, in partnership with the National Trust, DunhamMassey will, for the very first time, be transformed into a winter wonderland. With it being Christmas time, it’s beginning to look at lot like Christmas when the trees and formal gardens of Dunham Massey are playfully lit and all aglow. There is something for everyone at this festive time of year as the one mile sparkling path winds its way through the historic Dunham Massey woodland.
This new experience is inspired by the landscape itself. Greeted by the sights and sounds of Christmas, visitors will wander beneath tree canopies illuminated in seasonal shards of light and amongst larger-than-life snowflakes and baubles, transforming Dunham Massey into a winter wonderland!
Father Christmas sees you on your way through twinkling tunnels and a swaying lawn of colour reflected in the water. In the distance, glimpse the flickering plumes of the scented Fire Garden. As you duck between sparkling hedgerows, discover the Singing Trees rising high into the night sky and venture on into Pealight Heaven, a canopy of over 100,000 fairy lights. Pause at the festive finale as brightly coloured water jets dance in time to much-loved Christmas classics.
Complete your stroll under the stars with spiced cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate whilst the aroma of roasting chestnuts fills the air. Gather to toast your own marshmallows at one of the fire pits, ride the vintage carousel* in the courtyard and enjoy other traditional fare before finishing your Christmas shopping in Dunham Massey’s shop.

About Dunham Massey
Set within a 3000 acre estate, Dunham Massey is a green oasis nestled between the urban sprawl of Manchester and rural tranquillity of Cheshire. The Georgian house at the centre of the park, once the home of the Earls of Stamford and Warrington, contains over 400 years worth of family history as well as notable collections and archives. The park’s unique habitat supports a herd of fallow deer as well as important bird and insect life which can be spotted amongst the avenues of trees. Dunham Massey also boasts one of the North’s great gardens, with the largest winter garden in the UK ad a rose garden. Locally sourced food and drink can be enjoyed in the café or restaurant and a range of gifts and plants can be purchased from the shop.
