Looking to book your winter ski trip? Well, look no further than amazing Andorra. A beautiful hidden gem at the heart of the Pyrenees, you’ll be forgiven for not having Andorra at the top of your skiing wishlist.
As one of Europe’s lesser-known ski resorts, Andorra is an attractive option for hitting the slopes. Find out what you need to know with these five reasons to go skiing in Andorra.
1. It’s an up and coming resort
Europe is home to some fantastic skiing destinations, but with huge crowds descending on the most popular resorts each year, it’s nice to head to somewhere that’s lesser-known and still somewhat of a hidden secret. Andorra has some amazing skiing conditions, coupled with almost year-round sunshine that will help you to make the most of those gorgeous views. Choose from some fantastic locations in Grandvalira that feature accommodation on the hills so that you can admire the incredible views from your window.
2. The skiing is perfect
This year, Andorra experienced some of its best skiing conditions, thanks in large part to the ‘Beast from the East’ which caused havoc in Britain. The typical conditions in Andorra mean that skiing is great from December to April, while you might be able to enjoy some top skiing weather outside of the peak season too. Check out the latest Andorra skiing conditions to help you book your visit.
3. It’s easy to get to
You’d think that not having an airport would make a country hard to get to, but as Andorra is located between Spain and France, you’ll find plenty of nearby airports that are within easy reach of Andorra. Travelling to Andorra is easily done by plane to Barcelona or Toulouse, or you can take the train to get within a few miles of the border. You could fly in around two hours from the UK, making Andorra ideal for both long and short ski breaks.
4. It’s affordable
As well as the multitude of cheap flights, Andorra offers excellent value once you reach your destination. Lift passes and equipment hire are some of the most affordable of all European skiing destinations, and the food and drink is reasonably priced too. With a range of accommodation to choose from too, you can find both budget and luxury options to suit your needs.
5. There’s plenty to do off the slopes
While skiing might be the main purpose of your visit, there is still plenty of fun to be had off the slopes as well. The nightlife is fantastic, with a good selection of bars, restaurants, and clubs to choose from, while during the day there are some lovely villages and towns to explore. Discover more of Andorra’s beautiful mountainous landscape or head to the capital, Andorra La Vella, to enjoy a spot of shopping.
If you’re looking to book a ski trip this winter, then consider a trip to Andorra to enjoy some of the best views and skiing that Europe has to offer. It’s not too late to finalise your 2018 travel plans, so start booking some trips and enjoy more travel adventures for the second half of the year.
