Christmas is a very special time not only for our kids but for us adults as well. I love how, we get to eat Christmas themed dishes, wear our Christmas Jumpers (from last year as we do care for our environment) and indulge in all things magical and Santa. This year we were invited to Blakemere Village to experience the ultimate Christmas Woodland adventure located at Blakemere Village in Northwich, Cheshire. We had never experienced something similar before, so the thought of taking a unique theatrical journey to find Father Christmas and meeting some enchanting woodland characters along the way got us really excited. Do read along to find out what we did during our 3 hours at the magical woodland.

We arrived at the Blakemere Village Visitor Attraction around 10 minutes before the start of the event, so we had plenty of time to park up and walk to the registration point in Cheshire Outdoors located at the entrance to the magical woodland which was clearly signposted from the car park area. We were booked in for 2.40pm, hence sat down to wait with the others before we started. (Do note that if you are late then you might be asked to join another session as this event is time crucial).

The main aim of our adventure was to go on a magical journey to help save Christmas and find Santa by collecting the Christmas spirit in sprinkles. We started our journey with our Elf called Furball who took us to to see Melody the Owl who was perched upon a tree and sang us a wonderful tune. We truly felt the walk was magical as the woodlands were decorated with lights and Christmas decorations such as bells, snowman, candy cane and baubles.

Next, meet Wiley the Fox who was such a character! He charmed his audiences with his wit and storytelling skills. The kids and the adults were able to sit down in a covered area (which comes in handy if it is raining when you are there) and listen to him.

Wiley shared with us stories about Father Christmas and with our help, continued to restore the magic of Christmas by filling in the bag with magic dust.

We were soon off to meet Jack Frost and to me, this was one of the most beautiful part of the forest so perfectly and thematically decorated. Soon as my kids spotted Jack Frost, they were super excited! He captivated the little kids with his song and the restoration of the Christmas magic continued.

Soon, we spotted a Snow Princess riding on Snowflakes, the unicorn. All the kids had the chance to take a quick selfie with them before we went off to meet Father Christmas.

Father Christmas was happy that the magic of Christmas had finally been restored thanks to all the children who were there. Our children had the opportunity to meet Santa individually and tell him what they wanted for Christmas, next we took some photos and Santa gave them each a present. They were told that they could only open their present when they got to Mrs Claus’s workshop.

We totally loved, Mrs Claus’s workshop as it was warm, festive and decorated nicely. Both our kids had the opportunity to build their own cuddly toy given to them by Father Christmas (as their present). Mrs Claus and the elves went around to help the kids and add special magical touches before sealing it ready to take home and cherish forever. What a fantastic idea this was, as my kids adore their little husky pups.

As we left Mrs Claus’ workshop, the adults were given a gift, we decided to choose a candle, we next made our way to the outdoor bit to get ourselves some hot chocolate and toast some marshmallows. There are also lots of stalls around as well as face painting (in the indoor area) and food stalls. There was also an ice rink available for those who wanted to go ice skating.
Did we have a good time? Yes we did! Would we go back again? Yes, most definitely! Our kids had such an amazing adventure and the whole experience was magical. The day was super cold but luckily it was not wet so we all had a great time. I was also surprised that the adults came away with gifts too. It may seen a little pricey especially if you have a large family, but it is so worth it if you ask me as the whole experience was so different. If you do visit Christmas Woodland, do let us know what you thought about it in our comments section.

Here is a fantastic video and a sneak peek into the Woodlands on what you can expect there:
How much are the tickets and how do I book?
The tickets cost £30 per adult as well as for a child aged from 3 to 12 years of age. Under 3s cost £10. So in total for my family of four, it would have cost us £120. Do head to the Christmas Woodland website to book your tickets, hurry as the spaces are limited.

FAQs:
- This is mostly an outdoor event so be dressed for the weather with gloves, hats, coats, proper shoes. The show stills goes on even if it rains, so make sure to wear waterproof clothing as well. Feel free to bring along with you a set of clothes for children to change into after the woodland performance if it is a wet day.
- You need to arrive at the registration point at least 15 minutes before your time slot in order to register your arrival as the group won’t wait for you.
- We had our session booked for 2.40pm so by the time we finished the whole experience we did not get a chance to go ice-skating as we took out time and the skating booth closed by 5.40pm. So would recommend booking your slot earlier if possible.
- If you have little kids, make sure they use the toilet facilities (before the start of the event or after) as there are no toilet facilities in the forest
- Bring along a camera as there will be lots of photo opportunities
- Skates are supplied for all ticket holders but please note that children wearing wellington boots should bring an alternative pair of shoes to allow BOB Skates to fit. BOB Skates are available for children in sizes 5 – 12.
- The Hardcore pathways are Wheelchair and Buggy friendly and these have been laid around the majority of the woodland where the theatre performances are, however, there are a couple of steep inclines where you may need assistance depending upon your strength. There are usually helpers on hand to assist, but please mention this when booking your performance so that assistance can be organised.
- No dogs, only guide and assistance dogs are allowed.
