What I thought of Healthy Air Fryer Recipes Feasts and which recipe I decided to make

This book has a key to symbols page which gives you information on each recipe. It also includes the KCals, Carbs, Protein and Fat content per serving in grams.  This should help people who want to reach various health goals and not for those who do  not like cooking with reduced fat cheese or whey protein powder as many of the recipes requires this.

There is a page where she covers which air fryer to purchase and explains that she is using a two drawer air fryer for her recipes. I only have a small air fryer with one drawer but managed to make the two recipes I selected.

There is also in informative section explaining how to use your air fryer and she also has a section giving what to do and what to avoid when cooking with an air fryer. It’s well worth reading as it gives you a simple guide to avoid problems.

One of the pages of the book is covering the ingredients she uses again and again in her recipes. She calls them staples and says that she could not live without them. Obviously you may not have all these at home but they are very easy to find.  I would recommend just checking the cooking time and preparation time as some are not mentioned or not be as accurate.

One section is very useful for people with little time and who don’t always know what to make or how to cook, she is giving 7 easy to follow menus from Brunch, Luncheon to Date night and Kids’ sleepover. The menus include three or four recipes which are in this book.

The book is split into seven sections which are Breakfast, Speedy Lunches, Fakeaways, Meal Prep, Show Stoppers, Banging Sides and Sweet Stuff. I decided to review a couple of recipes, one from the breakfast section and the other from the Banging Sides section.

Recipe One – Cheesy Tortilla Omelette (Breakfast Section)

Prep Time: 5mins / Cook: 10 to 12min

1 tortilla wrap
2 med eggs
1/2 red pepper, diced
2 cherry tomatoes, quartered
40g diced ham
25g light cheddar, grated
salt and pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Grab a silicone liner or ovenproof dish, place the tortilla in and push down so the tortilla holds the shape, with a rim
  2. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, then pour into the tortilla bowl. Season well with salt and pepper, next add the pepper and tomatoes and ham, scatter over the grated cheese
  3. Air-fry at 180C for 10 to 12 minutes or until the egg has cooled. You could drizzle yours with sriracha and serve.

I decided to do this recipe one morning for my breakfast. As she mentions in her recipe, you can use anything you want in there and as I did not have any fresh peppers, I used some from a jar (they worked really well). Reviewing this recipe was an easy decision as I nearly always have most of the ingredients in the house.

The tortilla tasted good and was pretty filling but I had to stir the egg a little mid-way through the cooking as mine did not cook well in the middle.

The recipe is very easy to follow and took no time at all to get ready. It would also make a really nice quick lunch for adults or kids.

Recipe Two – The Best Sweet Potato Fries (Banging Sides)

Prep Time: 35min / Cook: 12 to 14min

40g sweet potato, peeled
15g cornflour
1 tbsp olive oil
t tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic granules or powder
good pinch of salt

Method

  1. Cut potatoes to equal-sized fries, squaring off edges so they don’t burn, rinse in cold water to remove starch and then sock them in cold water for 30 minutes
  2. Pre-heat air fryer at 190C for 5 minutes
  3. Dry sweet potatoes with tea towel, coat them with corn flower and then the oil, paprika and garlic powder. Do not season with salt until they are cooked
  4. Place fried in single layer in the air-fryer and cook for 12 to 14 minutes, flipping them halfway. Sprinkle with salt and serve.

We like sweet potato fries but have never been able to get them crispy in the air fryer so I decided to give this recipe a try.

The recipe is again very easy to follow and does not require fancy ingredients. I am sure most of you will have them in the house.

We did the recipe in two batches, batch one was not great, it was not crispy but was very tasty. That recipe was done directly on the crisper plate but despite have put oil on the sweet potatoes, they stuck to the plate.

The second batch was far better but still not crispy as the ones on the photo in the book. For this batch, we put a piece of silicon paper under the sweet potatoes fries and then followed the recipe to the letter. They were crispier than the first batch and tasted really nice with the addition of garlic powder and paprika.

If you want to use them as a side, you need to have a two drawer air fryer or cook the other items which such the meat in the pan.

Ohh the cheese omelette tortilla sounds like a great idea, I may need to give that a try as I love an omelette. I am trying to be better with breakfasts and lunches while I’m still off work as it’s easy to just go for convenience x

It is great that the book features healthy air fryer recipes. So often we are inundated with air fryer recipes but they are heavy weighted on the unhealthy side. I will try using silicone paper with my sweet potato fries next time! Great tip x

I am always looking for ways to use my air fryer for more than just frozen chips. High protein meals that take less than thirty minutes are a lifesaver when the week gets busy.
