Review: Magical Woodland Halloween 2025 at Blakemere Village

[Ad-gifted] The nights are drawing in and the days are getting shorter, so the temptation to stay in is strong  but want to inspire you to venture outside, wrap up warm and explore the Magical Woodland Halloween at Blakemere Village, Cheshire.

We were invited to view their Magical Woodland at Halloween and and walk through the woods that featured lights and models around Halloween. The event is situated on the grounds of Blakemere, that is a one stop wonderland of places to eat, shop and play.  Blakemere is open daily and has free parking and inside has plenty of small boutique style gift shops, restaurants and things to entertain children, such as, a mini fairground, play-barn and adventure playground.

We went on a clear a crisp Friday night to visit the Magical Wonderland, with two 11-year-olds in tow and lots of excitement around what we might see.  If you want to find out how it went and some tips on what to expect if you go and fun things that you can do then keep reading our latest review.

What we thought of Magical Woodland Halloween

We booked a 7pm time-slot but got there a little early – but this worked out well and I would recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before, so that you can walk over to the woodland area and take your time getting there. This extra time meant we could easily park the car and you would have the option to stop for a quick hot chocolate from the food stand by the mini fairground before you go in. But don’t fill up there, as you have more food/drink options inside the woodland area too!

When we arrived, you get your ticket scanned and follow the trail to the woods. When inside the woodland area, it starts with spooky aliens and lots of strobe effects blast off the trees with sound effects being played throughout. The atmosphere is great, plus the added excitement of toddlers squealing around made it extra fun.

The quality of the displays is unreal. We were so impressed with the models and lights, some that were silly and fun and others that were eerie and weird. Some of the lights twinkled on the trees giving the impression of thousands of fireflies dotted around, whilst others created carpets of colour. They were totally immersive and made you want to try to reach out and touch some of the effects.

In terms of age range, I would say that its pretty much suitable for everyone, however, mid to older teens might not be on board with it, but I can confirm that we loved it and thought it was so impressive that anyone would enjoy the walk around with all the lights even if you weren’t so bothered with the hype of Halloween. Plus, don’t be worried as it’s not too scary.

We were a little worried as we had overheard – from some guests walking around that there may be jump scares, but this wasn’t the case. We had some funny spooks, where the odd skeleton moved and some of the characters would heckle the crowds but apart from that this is definitely aimed around families.

It took us just over one hour to get around but the boys didn’t stop at every photo op. So, I recon, if you were to stop more often it could end up taking around two hours and there are also toilet stops on the way around.

Although the weather was perfect for us, I don’t think you’d be overly affected by the rain as the trees would create enough cover for you to still enjoy the walk.

What was fun about the photo op areas, is that they were live action characters, all playing a creepy role and ready to entertain you before you had a photo, all adding to the fun.

Once you go all the way around the woodland, you come to a gathering, where you find all kinds of snack huts to eat from. Such as, jacket potatoes, nachos, doughnuts (amongst some) and there is even a chance to buy some marshmallows to toast on a big open fire – that is made in a way that is completely safe from your little ones getting too close and burnt.

Note all the food stands are not included in the ticket price and are all at an extra cost. There is also a paid photo opportunity where you can buy a print on site – this is very reasonable starting at £8 per print.

This trail looks fab. I’d have been terrified if someone told me there was going to be jump scares. I’m such a wimp though! We’re going to something semi similar at the weekend so this has gotten me super excited!
