[Ad-gifted] We were invited to review the BBC Good Food Summer Show and BBC Gardeners’ World Live which was held last week at the NEC in Birmingham.
The weather was glorious and we knew we were set to have a fantastic day soon as we arrived as the place was buzzing with lots of people and different activities. Do read on to see more photos, videos and tips from us.
If you love food and gardening then this show is a must as your ticket will allow you access to both shows. Remember to grab yourself a copy of the free showguide as that will give you all the information such as where to eat, Exhibitor’s details, recipes as well as what shows are going on where.
We experienced amazing weather on the day and there were lots of people, young and old from different parts of the country all excited to be at the show. Various types of plants were being sold by vendors from all over the UK at a discounted rate and if plants were not there, you could pre-order it as well.
There were stalls selling all sorts of decorative items for the home / garden outside of the hall and in the hall as well. The show gives visitors the perfect opportunity to find unique and rare plants to make their garden that extra bit special. If you are just window shopping then it will give you ideas on how to improve your garden.
By just looking at the display flowers, it would give you lots of ideas on how to spruce up your garden. If you do purchase plants and flowers, you can always ask the vendor to keep it for you, so you collect it on your way out. One of the stalls was also selling a trolley basket which is convenient if you want to carry heavy plants back to the car.
There were lots of different entertainment happening on the outside stage. When we arrived these beautiful girls were singing in unison and everyone just sat down on the grass enjoying their music. Lots of food stalls are located outside as well as inside the show area. There was also an ice-cream van which got busier towards the afternoon. Here’s a short video of the girls singing.
For us, the best part about the show is the sampling of various types of foods, drinks and cooking marinades as it opens up our minds about different and new flavours. The vendors were very happy to share a small piece of whatever products they were selling, we think that is a good trick as we ended up buying most of the things we tried. Photos of chocolates from Lindt, Teriyake chicken from Kikkoman as well as cheese and olives.
Every year there is a new super food or a new fad which the food industry goes crazy for. This year we felt it was coconuts and avocado, as we kept seeing these two used throughout the show . There were avocado ice-cream, coconut water, coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut ice-cream and lots more.
Besides things like spices, vinegar, marinades, oils, sausages, meat, seafood being sold there, there were plenty of cakes, candies and sweets. This time we even spotted chocolate pizza, which is a great idea gift idea.
Another best thing about the BBC Good Food Show and BBC Gardeners’ World Live is (hands down) their Supertheatre / Demo Bench / Stage Shows. There were lots of famous personalities such as Carole Klein, Chris Collins, Monty Don, Alice Liveing and Nadiya Hussain giving visitors lots of tips, demonstrations, talks, cooking tips etc.
Below, is a photo of famous TV Chef Tom Kerridge at the BBC Good Food Stage Show getting up close and personal with his fans. There was also loads of demonstrations by vendors selling their products as well as Zwilling who were demonstrating knife skills.
Spotted these cute aprons on sale at the show. There were all sorts of designs and colours.
There was also a mini champagne tasting experience where visitors got a chance to taste a selection of four 50ml champagne for £10. There was also the Good Food Kitchen where a fabulous two course meal costs £22.95 while a three course meal costs £25.95. I would totally recommend trying their food if you do have the time to spare.
The photo booth by Yellow Tail was very popular with visitors, they also gave visitor’s free wine tasting. We personally enjoyed Mary Berry’s Chutneys. Heck’s sausages and the roast stall was popular very busy too.
