Update: The pub has since changed hands a few time
We decided to pop by Castle Inn in Congleton, Cheshire for lunch last week. We have been frequenting this pub for the last year now and it is by far one of my favourite family friendly pubs to head to. We love it because its small and cosy inside and I always leave feeling like I was served a good plate of homemade food. There is also a lovely outdoor beer garden area with lots of ducks quacking about on a nice day.
For our appetizer we ordered the Roasted Smoked Salmon Fishcake (top left image) which was served with salad and a lemon mayo dip. Priced from £6.25 to £11.95, the dish also doubles up as a light lunch with chips. This dish was lovely and light. We also ordered Beer Battered Onion Rings (top right image) which cost £3.50, the onions were huge and delish but I felt this was very greasy.
For the main dish, we ordered Veggie Moussaka (bottom left image). The dish was layered with potatoes, brinjals and mushrooms cooked in tomato sauce and served with salad and garlic bread. The dish was priced at £9.95. It was light and not cheesy at all. My son ordered his favourite dish which does not disappoint at all, non-greasy fish, chips and baked beans (bottom right image) which cost £6.95 with a scoop of ice-cream for dessert.

The Castle Inn has a lovely pub area if you just want to have a drink, they serve a nice selection of ales and wine. So if you just want to head there for a drink, its a good place to do that as well as you can sit on the lounge area or the outside beer garden.

The pub is dog friendly and I even spotted a jar of dog food in the corner available for pets. Staff at Castle Inn are lovely and friendly, especially if Mel is on duty. She will make you feel right at home.
There are some toys for kids in the pub, here’s a photo of my son playing with Jenga blocks while we waited for our food. A photo of our leek and potato soup costing £3.95 (in the middle) as well as the chocolate mint ice-cream (kid’s dessert).

Here is a selection of Castle Inn’s desserts and puddings menu, which we will definitely head back to try on another day as were too full to eat anymore with the amount of food we had!
In a nutshell, a cosy and homey place for some good food which will not disappoint.
