Secrets of a Fortnite Fan 3: Llama Drama is the latest instalment in one boy’s journey to gaming glory. The book, published by Welbeck Publishing, sees Fortnite-obsessed Tyler Meeks going for gold in a local Fortnite tournament.
But when he enters the Llamafest event, he discovers that achieving ‘Victory Royale’ is about to get a whole lot tougher.
As well as his gaming adventures, Tyler has a lot of real-life drama to deal with, including falling out with his friends and the perils of nosey parents. Plus, who’s the mystery rival squad online… and why do they seem so familiar?
Written by Eddie Robson and illustrated by Oscar Herrero, Secrets of a Fortnite Fan 3: Llama Drama is full of gaming tips and adventure.

What we thought of the book
My 11-year-old son, Ewan, is a fan of Fortnite, and both him and I have previously read the first book in the series, Secrets of a Fortnite Fan.
The books are standalone stories, so it didn’t matter that we skipped straight from the first one to the third in the series, Secrets of a Fortnite Fan 3: Llama Drama, missing out the second one.
Ewan was first to read this latest instalment and raced through it, finding it funny, exciting and useful. He described some of the Fortnite tips as helpful, although not all of them. He also liked that the book put a spin on the average Fortnite game.
I enjoyed the book, too, but not as much as Ewan. But that’s not surprising given I’m a non-gaming 40-something parent.
As with the first book, the latest offering gave me insight into the world of Fortnite.
For me, the most interesting parts were the interactions between Tyler and his friends, and Tyler’s conversations with his dad, rather than the game play. I could identify with Tyler’s dad, who appears to be clueless about how Fortnite works, although keen to understand the game better.
This book is great for encouraging reluctant readers because the text is broken up with plenty of lively illustrations. And because it’s about a popular computer game, it’s a good way to persuade young gamers to take a break from their consoles and read instead – at least for a short while.
How much is the book and where can you buy it?
The paperback is £3.55 and the eBook is £3.37. To buy, click here, but please check Amazon for its updated price because it might change.
