Children’s Toy Review: Art Lab Fluffy Paint Studio *

[Ad-gifted] The Art Lab Fluffy Paint Studio from Canal Toys is a huge hit with my creative five-year-old, combining her love of painting with her passion for sprinkles and sequins!

The studio contains everything your child needs to make 3D textured art. Simply choose a poster, paint it with the watercolour paints, get creative with the fluffy paint, and then add a few of the sparkly and colourful decorative charms.

The paint studio contains 10 poster templates and 10 blank sheets (both large and small), four watercolour paints and a brush, four fluffy paints in bright and fun colours with four nozzles to create different techniques with your fluffy paint, seven bags of decorative charms and a little scoop.

The salon set is aimed at kids aged six plus, but my five-year-old daughter picked up how to use it really quickly and was able play with the art set solo. We enjoyed making some artwork together, but it’s definitely a win that she can do it independently too.

What we thought of the Art Lab Fluffy Paint Studio

Jemma adores this paint studio and loves every part of the process of creating fluffy masterpieces! She is very creative and loves hands-on activities where she can let her imagination run wild. Jemma started with one of the templates, there are 10 to choose from and the designs are adorable, such as cute cupcakes and even cuter animals.

Once she got used to how to use everything she moved onto creating her own pictures with the blank sheets, allowing her to get even more creative.

The fluffy paint is fun to use and comes in four bright colours – pink, purple, yellow and green. The watercolours match the fluffy paint, but there is also an area in the art studio where you can mix the watercolour to make new colours.

The four shaped nozzles create different paint techniques. I must admit we both found it a little difficult to create the wave technique, but the other nozzles were easier to use and the star-shaped one made particularly fun shapes with the fluffy paint.

The different charms are a fun finishing touch and really help to create the 3D effect, and once the paint dries and hardens they stay in place in the fluffy paint.

The ‘art studio’ is very easy to set up, always a big plus for me, and I absolutely love that the studio is so compact and has a place for everything. I hate it when art sets that include lots of parts expect you to find somewhere to store lots of random tiny bits and pieces in between use, so this was a dream to use!

One tip for cleaning the fluffy paint nozzles, the paint is so thick that simply running them under water or soaking them doesn’t remove the paint. Instead us the end of your paint brush to push the paint out of the nozzle, before running them under the tap.

Overall, we were both very impressed with the Art Lab Fluffy Paint Studio and I would definitely buy the Fluffy Paint Kit once we’ve used up all of the paint, so that Jemma can continue to use the studio.
