So Slime Twist & Slime Mixer Set from Canal Toys

[Ad-gifted] After years of avoiding slime-based toys, my eight-year-old daughter Margot has finally worn me down and I have to admit, I’m now a big fan of sensory slime activities. From making our own DIY cloud slime, stretch testing and adding every kind of embellishment, we’ve done it all but we’ve never had a dessert-themed slime kit so we couldn’t wait to ready, set, ‘bake’ with the So Slime Twist & Slime Mixer Set.

This creative craft kit from Canal Toys lets children make their own dessert-themed slimes using a colourful, hand-powered mixer with everything included to follow recipes to create yummy looking treats.

Aimed at ages 6 and up, the set includes slimes of different textures from soft and stretchy to sparkly, decorative embellishments. The fun baking design and sweet treat theme really appeals to younger children, making it feel more like role play than just slime.

It’s hands-on, engaging and less messy than traditional slime kits and the kit includes everything a budding slime baker needs to set up their own slime cake cafe. Before Margot was open for business she added all the stickers to each pot and labelled all her ingredients which included everything you need to decorate three desserts.

There’s tiny slices of citrus fruits for the lemon pie, little chocolate chips for the lava cake and teeny tiny realistic slices of strawberry for the sweet cake. The cake mix is the base for all desserts and is a soft cloud like slime which you place in the mixer before adding the correct ingredients for each cake.

What we liked about the So Slime Twist & Slime Mixer Set

The handpowered mixer is really effective and effortlessly blends the slime ingredients together to create a new colour depending on the cake you’re making. Once your cake mix is blended you can set about moulding, stretching and playing with your slime before popping it into one of the labelled cake pots. Margot loved adding the sprinkles and additional slime sauces to create and serve realistic looking desserts in her slime cafe. Obviously she wanted to make all three desserts which meant we had to clean the mixing bowl after each dessert but thankfully, it’s wipe clean and leaves no sticky residue so it’s really easy to switch between each slime cake.

What we didn’t like about So Slime Twist & Slime Mixer Set

Admittedly, the mixer was a little irksome at times as you need to keep one hand one the base to work the hand-powered mixer through the slime adequately but once it’s started to soften, it gets easier.
