Update: Hightown Fish and Chip Shop has since been refurbished and is now under new ownership. The original owners have moved to another shop at 34, lower Heath, Congleton, CQ12 1NJ in Cheshire. I noticed long ques the many times I passed the shop, so guessing their fish and chips are just good. We hopefully will be able to share an update review of this soon on the blog.
Nestled on Biddulph Road in Congleton, Hightown Fish & Chip Shop has been a beloved local favourite for classic British takeaway fare. First opening its doors over five decades ago, this traditional chippy continues to serve up piping-hot fish and chips, alongside new additions like kebabs and burgers, after a major refurbishment and change of ownership in 2019. With a reputation for generous portions, friendly service, and a very good food hygiene rating, Hightown remains a go-to spot for residents and visitors alike craving hearty, comforting food in Cheshire.
Everyone has their favourite fish and chip shop and for me personally, this is our favourite shop. The fish and chips has always been crispy and not soggy, throughout the many times we have been there even when I add the travelling time from the shop back home.

What did I think of Hightown Fish and Chip Shop ?
The shop is clean but small, there is just enough space for the queue lane, customers enter through one door and exiting through another door. Unfortunately there is no space for you to sit and eat at the shop. You can now also pre-order from the comfort of your home and just arrive to collect your order.
The Congleton Park is just 5 minutes away, so that is a lovely place to stop by to have your fish and chips if you are visiting. The staff are friendly and they are always busy (especially on a Friday) so the chips and fish tend to be always fresh. Have a quick peak at the menu board.
They also sell other items such as steamed pies, sausages, curry, burgers amongst others. You can also buy kids meal deals or check out their daily specials.

Photos of the fish and chips, mushy peas (not too watery or minty…just how I like it) and yes, we do have our fish and chip with gravy (nice thick consistency) ..some what of a tradition which I started and has caught on with the rest of the family.
As you can see from the picture, another must have item is our favourite Maggi Malaysian Chilli Sauce (which you can buy in UK from most supermarkets like Tesco).

Here’s a short video which we made of the review. The video has been uploaded in HD version with music, so if its blurry on your screen, please make sure you click on setting (which looks like a wheel at the bottom of the video) and set the resolution to suit your screen.
Alternately you can also view it directly on my youtube channel. Feel free to leave your comments below or share this post video on social media networks.
