by Yeah Lifestyle

36 days to Christmas and I can’t believe how time is flying!

[Ad-gifted] If you have yet to start on your gift shopping, we are sharing some great book gift ideas for toddlers, kids and tweens.  We are starting with Meli & Mac (Rendez-Vous With A Flamingo) by Elena Joannides, an engaging book teaching readers some French as they go on an adventure.

Cat Lovers out there will adore Lonely Planet Kids’ Atlas of Cats by Frances Evans. The book acts as a guide featuring cats from around the world, sharing details about where each cat originates from, basic cat geography from their coat to their claws as well as lowdown on each cat’s unique skills.

We have not one but two books from Bloomsbury Children’s Books for little hands. The first book is Captain Christmas by Karl Newson for pirate lovers and those who love adventures whilst the second book, We’re Going on a Sleigh Ride by Martha Mumford is an interactive flip the flap board book for toddlers. Both these books are great to read to the lead up to Christmas or make great Christmas presents.  Finally, Spill the Beans (100 silly sayings and peculiar phrases) by Collins Kids is perfect for the child who loves funny books, being silly and always wants to know ‘why’.

Meli & Mac by  Elena Joannides
(Rendez-Vous With A Flamingo)

I love gifting books to my children and have always done so for their birthdays or as Christmas presents, which in a way has encouraged their love for reading.

If you are looking for an original book with an engaging story to gift a 3 to 9-year-old then Meli & Mac by Elena Joannides is the perfect gift for little readers this Christmas.

The story is about siblings, Meli and Mac who stumble across Freddie, a French speaking flamingo who is lost and needs to find his way to the Flamingo Festival of the year. Meli and Mac soon embark on an adventure to help Freddie get to his destination.

The book is super colourful with eye-catching illustrations by Margherita Ende and will take the readers on an expedition of  lifetime. Part of the Meli & Mac Series, children will find themselves learning some French along the way, thanks to the inclusion of some French words and phrases in the book. The book can also be read to younger children or perfect as a first reader once the child starts reading. The book just has 30 pages but is filled with attractive illustrations to keep little readers keen. The text is also written in a larger font size to help first readers.  Meli & Mac (Rendez-vous with a Flamingo) retails for £8.99 from Brown Dog Books and makes a fabulous gift.

Captain Christmas by Karl Newson
(Get ready to meet the world’s most festive pirate!)

One of the most fondest memories I have with my children, when they were little at the Christmas time was the build up oto Christmas from heading to venues to see Christmas Lights, meeting Santa and reading Christmas themed books.  I remember my children being glued to the Santa Tracker, watching his every move on Christmas Eve as we sprinkle reindeer dust in the garden and get snacks for Rudolph and his reindeer friends (and a tipple for Santa too).  Our Christmas morning ritual includes heading to Church, enjoying our traditional family pie at breakfast followed up opening presents…and there was always a book, or two, wrapped for them.

Captain Christmas by Karl Newson is a great book to read at bedtime to the build up to Christmas or as a Christmas present for little ones. The book is about Santa’s elves and how they were once fearsome pirates before they met Captain Christmas, a jolly pirate who shows them that giving is better than taking, and soon has them sailing the world on Christmas Eve on a ship packed with presents for every child, no matter how big or small. Illustrated by Tom Knight, the book is filled with colourful illustrations to get their imagination going. It also makes a good book for first ready as its not too wordy.

So if you are ready to discover Santa as you’ve never seen him, before then get your book ordered in, me hearties! The paperback retails at Bloomsbury Children’s Books for just £7.19 , you can also opt to purchase a hardback book for £11.69 or ebook for £6.39 if you prefer.

The book is a fabulous treat to read in the days leading up to Christmas or this makes a fabulous gift for your godchild,  children, niece/nephew or loved one. Readers will enjoy discovering a wild Christmas-themed story that is full of surprises, winter magic, bouncy text and vibrant illustrations by Cherie Zamazing which will fuel your little one’s imagination! To add to the mix, there are 10 surprises hidden under the flaps on the pages which will make reading more exciting!

Perfect size for little hands to hold, the board book by Bloomsbury Children’s Books retails for £7.19 while the ebook is priced at £6.39.  So get ready to climb aboard Santa’s sleigh and join the fun as four bunnies set off on a thrilling festive adventure.  But watch out for the obstacles along the way such as snowy clouds, church spires, flocks of flying geese!

Children’s books are some of my favorite gifts. I like shopping for books. In this day and age, we do need a closer touch to the book world. Thought eBooks are convenient, I still need a real book to hold and to read, enjoying the world the books I grew up with.
These holiday books for kids are amazing. Colorful. With a lot of pictures. They make an outstanding gift indeed.

Same with us, I find we do love the hardcopy book to hold and read compared to ebooks, although those are easier to carry when you are on a holiday
