[Ad-gifted] Silverwind is a small, women-owned activewear brand with a strong focus on sustainability and a more thoughtful approach to fashion. Their ethos is centred around creating comfortable, practical activewear that feels good to wear while being kinder to the planet. I also love that they celebrate individuality through their gorgeous, distinctive prints, rather than creating the same old sportswear you see everywhere.
Their collection includes beautiful floral and animal prints in soft pastel shades, alongside versatile wardrobe staples. I chose the classic black High-Waisted Leggings for my daughter, knowing they would be incredibly easy to wear and pair with almost anything.
I also picked the Sexy Flora Mesh Bra from the Sexy Flora range. Both pieces are available in a choice of colours, but I couldn’t resist the fresh apple-green bra top as this makes a lovely combination that feels both fun and practical. Most importantly, I know she’ll get plenty of wear out of them.
What my daughter, Mirabel thought of Silverwind Activewear?
Let’s start with the Sexy Flora Mesh Bra top. The colour, apple green, is light yet vibrant. I picked this because I knew it would go well with my skin tone – but you can also get it in white, burgundy/black and black. It has lightly padded cups and a wide, firm band for security and support.
The neck features a simple clip at the back. It has a pretty floral mesh detail across the chest, straps at the back and the Silverwind logo detail discreetly placed at on the back band. The seams and fabric a really comfy, with no rubbing or scratching – in fact, I’ve worn this all day, ridden my horse in it, walking, running and had it on under my top at work, and it stands up to hours of comfortable use.

On to the High-Waisted Leggings. Although not immediately noticeable in the pictures on the website, they feature a mesh inset on the left thigh. This little detail makes them stand out from other activewear leggings – and of course, goes well with the top too! Again, they feature a firm yet super comfy waistband that sits high on the body; the leggings stay in place, and the leg cut and length was perfect for me. They also feature the Silverwind logo, which is a nice touch, especially when paired with one of the activewear tops. Not too sold on the title – Sexy Flora. Not with the high quality and premium price tag.

All the clothing is made from RPET – a man-made fibre created from recycled plastic bottles. It has antimicrobial properties, which is always great for activewear, and sustainability is at the heart of the brand’s ethos.
The brand donates to their chosen charity, Ocean Conservancy, with every purchase you make. The packaging is also simple and sustainable – using twine and a little cloth bag – no cracking plastic wrappers and silicone sachets to throw away here. They could be happily given as gifts in this packaging.

When I was browsing the website, there were a lot of items with a really wide range of colours and prints – almost too many. They are organised into collections as well as a menu where you can browse leggings, tops, skirts and more. The skirts look really good fun – a bit like dance skirts. You can pick swimwear too. I had a look at the About Us section to find out more about the owners, the product certification, sustainability stats and more. There is a lot of information on there.
It is not obvious where this brand is based, especially as the pricing pops up in USD before it changes to GBP. There is also no phone number or address, only a form to fill in for extra info. This is a shame, because it looks generic. One of things I look for when buying online is some kind of confirmation that the website is a genuine, UK-based outfit. I like to get behind my brand, especially when it has a good story.

Where you can buy Silverwind activewear and how much does it costs?
There are many activewear on their website, but for today’s review I have featured the Sexy Flora Mesh Bra in Fresh Apple Green and have paired it with the vintage black Sexy Flora High-Waisted Leggings. Prices on Silverwind’s website are mid range, with the sexy mesh bra retailing at around £32 and the leggings retailing at £47. Prices change and seem to based in US dollars.
The website could benefit from a tidy-up, both in terms of its layout and its message. It’s wonderful to see a business that is so passionate about sustainable fashion, but telling the customer that restocking has ‘potential environmental issues’ makes me feel a little guilty about ordering in the first place! Yet more people who love their products and buy them means, fewer purchases going to the big players, and that always has to be a good thing.
The range is very wide with plenty of patterns and activewear choices. ‘Order customs’, ‘Handcraft’ and ‘One of a kind’ options ‘created by a happy mistake’. I can see Silverwind’s fashion handwriting, but it is overwhelmed with variety and choice. The core activewear is fabulous and wearable, and girls, it really wouldn’t matter if there was half the range available, because it does exactly what it says on the little jute bag!
About Silverwind
Silverwind is a transparent brand through their ethos and manufacturing. They are proud to use recycled plastic bottles to weave their fabric and produce small batches of styles/designs. What’s more, they don’t re-order items until all the stock has been sold, and in some cases, you won’t find them again as they will bring in new designs keeping their brand fresh.
They make their clothes in China and are proud to be using a well-established company that is family-owned and well-versed in making activewear. They make Oeko-Tek-Certified products so there are no harmful substances within them. And all their packing is plastic-free. So get behind Silverwind and feel the breeze from the clean ocean as they promise to be a socially and environmentally responsible business.
