Braising Steak Slow Cooker Recipes
During winter, it’s always nice to have some type of stew or slow cooked meal. This week, I decided to make some braised steak, I used the ones I get at the abattoir which are the best braising streaks but you can also use chuck steak which is a little more fatty but maybe tastier.
I normally used pre-fried onions but I had a lot of onions and shallots left over from Christmas hence decided to use them. It takes a little longer to pre-fry the onions but well worth it.
You can serve this with any type of vegetables, green ones work well as it makes the plate look nice and appetising as well as potatoes, new potatoes work well but so does mash. It’s really up to you and what you like or have in the house.
I only used onions and carrots in this but you could add anything in there, perhaps use the trinity – carrot, celery and peppers and onions, as it would make a really nice sauce (either as they are or liquidised and thinned out with vegetable stock).
You can also make a large batch and freeze a couple of portions for another day. This is a great recipe to batch cook.
This time I used two large braising steaks and that was enough for two meals. For even better flavour, choose high-quality, well-reared beef. It breaks down beautifully in the slow cooker, giving you a richer, more satisfying dish. Sourcing from a reputable supplier like The Organic Butchery guarantees you’ll get the highest quality organic grass-fed beef in every cut you order.

Ingredients for the Braising Steak Slow Cooker Recipes
Braising steaks
Onions (I used 2 and 1 bag of shallots but you don’t have to use that many)
Carrots (I used around 7 carrots but again this is up to you)
Salt, pepper, mixed herbs, garlic powder, parsley and bay leaves and one beef stock
Optional – mushrooms or trinity of vegetable (carrot, celery and peppers)

Method
Prep all the vegetables, chop the onions, think slices of carrots
brown the steaks in a frying pan before putting them in the slow cooker
Add the raw carrots
Fry the onions until transparent
Add the herbs and seasoning
Add some water with on beef stock, just enough to cover the meat and vegetables
Slow cook on medium (I leave it all day as I usually make this when I am out during the day) or on high for 4 to 5 hours
Serve with potatoes and vegetables.

I love a good slow cooker meal like this, and anything with steak in it is a winner for us. I may need to give this a go next week as it’s much easier for me to prep during the day with our little one x
