Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show

[Ad-gifted] A confident, joyful step up into “big” theatre for little people.

We went to see Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show at Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays, and while this wasn’t my son Kitt’s first experience of live theatre, it was his first time sitting through a more substantial, full-length show, and it couldn’t have gone better.

Although Peppa Pig live has been running for over 15 years now it retains the magic its always had for young audiences. This is the show where we meet Evie, the newest member of Peppa’s family, which added an extra layer of excitement for the children in the audience.

What Did We think of Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show?

With an 80-minute runtime plus a 15-minute interval, making it almost two hours in total, I was wondering how it would land with a just-turned-four-year-old. The answer was completely fine. He was engaged and enthralled the whole way through as was his little friend who came along with us.

The production feels like a confident step up from shorter toddler shows without ever losing its preschool heart. The story follows Peppa and her family as they prepare for a very exciting new chapter, delivered with familiar humour, well-loved songs and moments of gentle audience interaction. Despite the length, the pacing works brilliantly. The interval comes at just the right moment, and the second half draws children straight back in.

The atmosphere throughout was very relaxed. There was wriggling, whispering, sometimes dancing in aisles, and the occasional shout, but every child in the audience seemed completely enthralled. It was definitely a space where children were genuinely welcome rather than expected to sit in silence.

Kitt was glued from start to finish, just full attention, laughter and plenty of pointing. His absolute highlight was the car, which completely delighted him and was talked about long after we left the theatre. His only disappointment, very on brand for a Peppa fan, was that he didn’t get wet when the water pistols came out!

The cast did a fantastic job of capturing the voices and personalities children know so well, which makes a huge difference in a show like this. Cinem Gopaul played Daisy and George Pig, Emma Hilts was Peppa Pig, David Tudor took on Daddy Pig, Mr Bull and Danny Dog, Charlie Culkin played Mummy Pig and Suzy Sheep, and Cate Brooks was US and ASM.

The performers juggling multiple roles did so seamlessly, keeping the energy and momentum going throughout.
This is a longer show, but it is well within reach for preschool children, particularly those familiar with Peppa Pig. The calm, welcoming atmosphere and engaging production make it an enjoyable experience for both children and adults.

How much are the tickets?

Tickets are priced between £20.50-£25.50 depending on seating. While it is not the cheapest family outing, the quality of the production and the length of the show make it feel like good value, especially for a special treat or milestone trip.

Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show is a polished, joyful and genuinely enjoyable live production that respects its young audience. It feels like a natural progression into longer theatre experiences while remaining warm, inclusive and fun. For us, it was a really happy step into “big” theatre, and judging by Kitt’s reaction, one he would happily repeat, preferably with a little more splashing next time.

For Peppa fans I bet this is such a fun show. We’ve not shown Peppa to our little one yet, but we’d definitely go if there was a Bluey one! x

Finding a theater space where kids can actually move around without judgment is such a relief. My niece would have been just as obsessed with that car. Sitting through two hours is impressive for a four year old.
