Benjy Bunn’s Busy Day Book Review
[Ad-gifted] We love book and so do our kids, so here’s another children’s book review titled Benjy Bunn’s Busy Day by Bev Scott Prior.
We were sent a copy of the book to read through and share what we and our kids thought about it, so read on if you would like to know more about this book. The book is aimed for kids aged 3 to 7-year-olds, and this is the first book in the series which co-incidentally has been released today.
The book is about Benjy Bunn who believes that he is doing good, helping his Mummy in the house and Daddy in the garden, however it is evident to the reader that his actions are actually causing mayhem in his family home. Whether it’s preparing food, tidying his room, or doing the gardening, Benjy gets it ever-so wrong.
What we thought of Benjy Bunn’s Busy Day?
Anouk (an 8 year-old) read this to her brothers (3+ and 5+ year old). All three of them enjoyed the story and loved the fact that Benjy Bunn is quite a care free rabbit!
She thought it was a nice story that was easy to follow, with it being very funny and relatable to the chaos of their house. The boys also enjoyed reading the book. As adults, our only critique is the change in font, as we found this awkward to follow the sentences – although it didn’t seem to bother the children.
The kids gave the book a 10/10 for simplicity and because it was easy to read. Our kids also said that the best bit had to be where Benjy says ‘I have been a a good boy’ because its really funny. The book is funny and great for the kids, and if we had to change anything at all it would be to write ‘he’ instead of ‘basically couldn’t find the spoon’.

About Bev Scott Prior
Bev Scott Prior first wrote the Benjy Bunn series in the early 1970’s to read to her children at the local nursery. The pages of the first copies of the stories, typed by her husband 45 years ago, are worn and weathered, each page smudged and frayed by the hands of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Now in 2018, Benjy has been brought to life by her grandson James Burns, the main illustrator of the series. The Benjy Bunn Books series is filled with old-fashioned charm, wit and wonderful musicality.

It sounds like a fun book for the kids. It’s nice to find books for the young ones that are easy to read and have a fun story. It’s definitely something that I’d recommend to my kids for my grandchildren.
