Date Night Ideas for When You Want an Excuse to Get Dressed Up

Life gets busy, and when you’re spinning many plates at once getting some quality time with the one you love can be difficult. When you factor in the fact many of us have been working from home much more, and on the occasions, we do go to the office, there are often relaxed dress codes in place, we don’t get many opportunities to get dressed up anymore.

That’s a real shame because putting on your glad rags and making a fuss about yourself and your significant other feels great and can even bring you closer together.

If you’d love the chance to put on your finest threads and have some fun, then consider these date night ideas.

Casino

When you think of a casino, you probably picture scenes from movies like James Bond or Ocean’s Eleven with everyone in sharp suits and flattering frocks. The real world is a little different though, as most casinos (especially here in the UK) have fairly relaxed dress codes.

That said, you certainly won’t look out of place if you turn up in show-stopping outfits. Most casinos also have restaurants and bars to keep you fed and refreshed. Some even have live entertainment, so you can have an entire night out under one roof.

If you’ve never been to a casino before, you may be a little unsure of the rules of all the games. Don’t fret though, the dealers are always friendly and will be happy to show you the ropes. Alternatively, you could get some practice in beforehand by claiming one of the many casino bonuses on offer from online casinos, so you can look like a pro for your date night.

Theatre

Like casinos, theatres have relaxed their dress codes in recent years, so you can go to watch a show wearing (just about) whatever you feel comfortable in. However, many theatregoers like to keep traditions alive and will wear smart attire whenever they visit the theatre. Many venues, such as the Timber Rock Amphitheater (and those elsewhere more relevant) also host regular live music events which you can buy tickets for easily online. This can be great if your partner isn’t into a classical theatre experience but still wants to dress up and go out to be entertained, it also makes it easier for you to plan things ahead of time, so it’s a stress free venture on the day.

This is especially true for evening shows and opening nights, but less so for matinees.

Most cities have at least one theatre and you’ll find plenty in London with venues like the Royal Opera House, the Old Vic, the National Theatre, and the Barbican.

Restaurant

You might look a bit out of place if you turn up for a cheeky Nando’s in an evening gown, although no one would stop you from being the best-dressed peri-peri eater in the house. However, if you want something a little more upmarket, there are plenty of restaurants where smart attire is a requirement (or at least strongly encouraged).

The great thing about this is that there will nearly always be a restaurant near you where you get dressed up for a date night, even if one of the other options isn’t near you.

Alternatively, you could combine a fancy meal in a restaurant with one (or both) of the options above for an even more exciting date night in your glad rags.
