Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Buxton Opera House

Following the overwhelming success of Evita (2024) and Jesus Christ Superstar (2025)Buxton Opera House is thrilled to announce that its 2026 community production is none other than Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat which will start in April this year.

This multi award-winning show has become one of the world’s most beloved family musicals and has been performed hundreds of thousands of times including multiple runs in the West End, on Broadway, and on international tours in over 80 countries worldwide.  Featuring much loved pop and musical theatre classics, including Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door, There’s One More Angel in Heaven and Go, Go, Go Joseph.

This is an amateur production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by arrangement of LW Entertainment is made possible through the generous support of Arts Council England and Taylor Emmet Solicitors.

How long is the show for and what are the timings?

The performance will be running from Wednesday, 29 April until Monday, 4 May 2026 at 7.30pm with a matinee show on Saturday at 2pm, signed show at 3pm (Sunday) and another afternoon show at 3pm on Monday at Buxton Opera House.

Where is Buxton Opera House?

There is free parking after 6pm in the car park behind Pavilion Gardens, a short walk from both venues (Please note: the covered area of the car park closes at 6pm). There is also free on-street car parking after 6pm close to the theatre, but please make sure that you avoid the Residents Parking Scheme areas. Electric car charging is available at The Lee Wood Hotel and The Old Manse Guesthouse at the discretion of the guesthouse/hotel.

The train station is also a ten minute walk from the Opera House and operates a regular service from Manchester Piccadilly calling at all stations to Buxton.

Buxton Opera House is a beautiful Edwardian theatre in Buxton, Derbyshire, England, designed by Frank Matcham. Opened in 1903, this Edwardian Baroque style building was later restored in 2001, It is one of the finest examples of his theatre design and is a key part of Buxton’s thriving cultural scene. The theatre hosts a diverse range of performances, including opera, musical concerts, comedy, and more.
