Wondering what to do with the kids during the long summer school holidays? Why not head to Stafford Gatehouse Theatre to watch Julia Donaldson’s Snail and the Whale which is set to take place for two days in August.  Perfect as a family show for kids aged 4+ and above, the stage adaptation of the hugely popular children’s story, is set to entertain little ones with laughter, song and story for an estimate of 55 minutes.  We love heading to Stafford Gatehouse Theatre to watch many of their theatre performances, you can read about Dear Zoo, the last show which we watched here.

Brought to you by the Olivier Award-nominated company which produced Gruffalo and Room on the Broom…..the Snail and the Whale also promises to enthral and entertain kids, parents and grandparents alike.   Audiences will have the opportunity to join a tiny snail on her trip round the world in Tall Stories’ magical, musical production inspired by the fantastic bestselling picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Longing to see the world, a tiny snail hitches a lift on the tail of a humpback whale. Together they go on an amazing adventure – but when the whale gets beached, how will the snail save him? Follow the tiny snail’s exciting journey, as seen through the eyes of an adventurous young girl and her seafaring father.

So if you love reading Julia Donaldson’s books then, this stage adaptation of Snail and the Whale will be something you won’t want to miss.

I’m so lucky to have a niece that loves to read…well “read” lol! She’s still a little too young for that, but she loves the pictures and being “read” to. I’ve got a laundry list of books to get her for all ages, it’s a bit of a procurement at this point lol! If I ever get an opportunity to have her see a book come to life, I’ll jump on it right away. This looks so fun and I bet the kids have a ball.

How wonderful to hear that Tiffany, we are sure your niece would love to watch this as seeing the actual character in real life is super for little ones and lets their imagination run wild.
