How to Win Tickets to Manchester Fashion Week
Designers from all over the world are coming together to Manchester in May to celebrate fashion for all sizes, ages and styles. Manchester Fashion Week, now in its 4th year, headed by top UK fashion PR Amanda Moss, will be the perfect place for start up designers to launch their brand in front of a global audience as well as attracting established brands who know their audience is captivated by new fashions. The audiences are smaller in Manchester hence designers are more likely to get noticed by those in the industry that matter as shows are not flooded with hundreds of showcases. Designers who showcase in Manchester have traditionally gone onto open boutiques or have been headhunted by leading design houses. Models have been scouted for TV and editorial.
Lots of fab designers will be at the show, here are just some to name a few:
- Appearing on the exclusive opening night show on 21 May will be Kita May Designs, who started her career backstage at Manchester Fashion Week as a dresser and became inspired to design. Phoenic De Barrio will also be flying over from Peru to launch their debut swimwear collection, aimed at women of all sizes to reflect consumer demand. With her African background Flency Rose brings her African prints to life whilst Turkish born designer Nurcan who is now living in Manchester brings her Pearl Design lingerie fashion to the mass market.
- Local designer Richard Gairy, designer of Gogairy Hand Painted Leathers has worked for film and TV productions and is branching out commercially after recovering from a life changing illness and is a catwalk virgin, as is Sidhu Fashions who sells high street plus size womenswear.
- New to the fashion scene is Haze, a Manchester based brand new handbag accessories design who are launching their company on the catwalk at Manchester Fashion Week this season.
- Online plus size Perfect 4U have requested models up to size 22 to reflect the needs of their customers and menswear is represented by Apparel 32.
- Turkish brand Kiki Riki, stocking exclusively in Essere Bella boutique in Rossingdale will also unveil their new collection at Manchester Fashion Week.
- CDMUK Charity, which recently received a £1million lottery grant, will be closing the show. The designers featured in this collection are vulnerable women suffering from domestic abuse, autism and mental health issues who have been taught high fashion skills using British wools and recyclable fabrics. They will be showcasing one off haute couture wearing pieces.
