[Ad-Gifted] Tonight is a spectacle to remember! Last night we were invited to watch Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance at The Regent Theatre in Hanley. A Lifetime of Standing Ovations and what a show!
Having grown up in a Catholic household in the North West, I of course attended Irish Dancing classes! I loved it, although I wasn’t too fond of performing, unlike the talent on stage last night who gave it their all in this unforgettable performance. Find out more about how it went and how you can bag some tickets – if you’re quick – by reading our latest review.

What I thought of last night’s show
This is such a must-see! It’s been touring since I was little. I have always been fascinated by the show wondering how it would come across on the stage.
Lord of the Dance – in case you aren’t familiar with it – takes traditional Irish dancing and gives it a modern twist. Micheal Flatley is known for the way in which he adapted the ridged arms of traditional Irish dancing (where you dance with your arms almost fixed to your sides) and brought more movement and fluidity to the classic style. Some may say this is scandalous to change such a traditional dance and others may think it brave! Well looking back now it was clearly a brave and bold move as his show has been running for over 25 years, alongside the well-known Riverdance which has been going for 20 years!
He has proven that people want to see the magic that is Irish dancing with the modern edge that Flatley’s choreography has given to it. Last night was no exception – the talented dancers showed us how fast they could move their feet and jump through the air. Equally, the show was broken up with other talented performances, from a singer, singing some modern Irish ballads – one in Gaelic – and two violinists/fiddle players, providing us with some traditional Irish folk music.
The night is fun and the Dancing is phenomenal. If you want to watch it tonight or tomorrow in Stoke-on-Trent’s Regent Theatre, then see below for how to get your tickets.
