Teechers Leavers ’22 at Crewe Lyceum

Blackeyed Theatre, in association with South Hill Park, presents Teechers Leavers ‘22 by John Godber Company which will be heading to Crewe Lyceum Theatre in Cheshire this April.

Directed by Adrian McDougall this production is a hilarious, high energy and full blooded, Teechers Leavers ‘22 brings to life an array of terrifying teachers and hopeless pupils through the eyes of Salty, Gail and Hobby; three Year 11 students facing a scary world, armed only with imagination and a joy of theatre.

It’s 2022 at Whitewall, a struggling academy that’s failed its Ofsted. The bell’s gone and they can’t afford a new one. The first fifteen have lost sixty-seven nil and the playing field needs levelling up. Sadly, Whitewall’s led by donkeys. So’s Whitehall, come to that. Enter Miss Nixon, a new drama teacher with fire in her belly, a lesson for the elite and a well ‘sick’ Tik Tok!

Will Miss Nixon abandon her students for a soothing private school? Who puts the bounce in Miss Prime, the PE teacher? Will Mrs Parry ever find her Koko? And why does everyone smell of spring onions?

Unplug, switch off and buckle up for the world premiere tour of Teechers Leavers ‘22, John Godber’s breath-taking, breakneck comedy about education for the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ and a generation left behind.

Keep on reading to find out how you can win yourself a pair of tickets to Teechers Leavers ’22 worth £51.65 (two winners) on its opening night at Crewe Lyceum Theatre in Cheshire.

About Blackeyed Theatre

Blackeyed Theatre Company was established in 2004 to create exciting opportunities for artists and audiences alike. Our theatre is challenging yet accessible for both new and established audiences. It asks questions and invites reaction. It provokes only as live performance can.

About John Godber Company

The John Godber Company was established in 2011 with the purpose of allowing the playwright John Godber to continue expressing himself through the dramatic form. After having seen how the board of a theatre can destabilise a company John and his playwright/director/actor wife, Jane, decided to create their own company in order to keep control of their work.

As Artistic Director Godber had steered Hull Truck from bankruptcy in 1984 to the West End, an international reputation and finally a purpose built £15million theatre which he helped design and raise the money for, which opened in 2010. Shortly after the new theatre had opened the then Artistic Director, Gareth Tudor Price, was made redundant, and Godber, in a gesture of support to his long time friend and artistic colleague, left Hull Truck, after a relationship of twenty six years.

The John Godber Company, which has a base in East Yorkshire has a number of production outlet opportunities; often producing national tours out of Theatre Royal Wakefield, and partner-productions at Hull New Theatre and  East Riding Theatre amongst others. The John Godber Company believes in putting the artist at the centre of the theatrical creative process.
