What I thought of the Class Calligraphy Kit from Manuscript

The kit is such a great gift, firstly it comes packaged together in a handy box that you can use to store away all the items included. Inside you will find a handbook, that gives you clear guidance on all the types of calligraphy, with illustrations on how to create each lettering. As well as traditional calligraphy, there is a guide for modern calligraphy too. It also directs you to which ink nib is best suited for each type of writing you may want to achieve.

Also included, are all the pens, ink cartridges and the dip pen, with a variety of nibs and the ink dipping pot. The set also contains a pad for you to get started, so everything you need to begin is ready and waiting. The box is made from sturdy cardboard and simple grey colour. It can easily be stored away, on a bookshelf, or drawer when not being used.

I think this box makes a great gift and unlike other sets, I have seen online, it has everything to get you going, so there is no need to have to buy extras to be able to start learning calligraphy. My only critique would be (and it’s a very small one) that it would be nice if there was a small pencil/pen case within the set so that when you have removed all the plastic protecting the pens, they don’t simply float around the box.

I love cursive writing, so being able to try this set out has been a treat and reminds me of my youth when a family friend bought me a set very similar to this for my 10th birthday. Back then I had no patience, and this is why I think it’s a great set to give to a grown-up like your dad! Any excuse for them to be able to sit down and have a bit of time to themselves sounds like a plan on Father’s Day.
