[Ad-gifted] With the new school year just around the corner, we’ve been starting to get Kitt ready for going back to school, and one of the most important things on our list was finding him a new pair of school shoes.
Kitt was very excited when we received the RICKY Boys’ Black Dinosaur Rip-Tape School Shoes from ToeZone, especially when he spotted the dinosaur details. There’s something lovely about finding school shoes that still look smart and suitable for school, but have those little details that children can get excited about.
The RICKY Boys’ Black Dinosaur school shoes are a smart all-black design, making them perfect for school uniform, but they have some fun dinosaur details hidden within the shoe for little dinosaur fans.
They feature Ortholite in sole designed to provide cushioning and breathability throughout the school day, along with a Velcro tape fastening which makes them easy to get on and off. They also have a scuff-protection toe bumper and durable rubber outsole, which are both useful features for an active little boy.
Trying Them On
Kitt has really enjoyed trying his new shoes on with his school uniform. They are a tiny bit big for him at the moment, so we haven’t been able to properly put them through their paces yet, but I’m sure they will be a great shoe for him to grow into.
We also had a good look at the reflective details, which I think are a useful addition to children’s footwear, particularly as the darker evenings start to return.
What We Thought of the ToeZone Ricky School Shoes?
We love that from the outside they look like a classic, smart black school shoe, but then there are all these little dinosaur details for Kitt to discover. The dinosaur on the sole was definitely one of his favourite parts!
The Velcro fastening is also very practical for younger children, making it much easier for them to put their own shoes on, while the Ortholite insock should help keep little feet comfortable during a busy school day.
For us, the fact that they have a little growing room is actually a bonus. Kitt will be able to grow into them, and I think once they fit him properly they are going to be a great everyday school shoe.
The shoes have a visual growing room guide on the sole of the shoe and it shoes where the toe should fit and when the shoe becomes too small for the child.
It’s a really clever little feature that allows you to see how much growing room your child has inside the shoe, without having to guess whether they’ve got enough space.
As Kitt’s RICKY Boys’ Black Dinosaur Shoes are a tiny bit big for him at the moment, this was especially useful for us. We could see exactly where his foot sits within the shoe and understand how much room he has to grow into them.
I love little practical features like this because children’s feet grow so quickly, and it can be difficult to know when a shoe has genuinely got enough room without being too big. Having a visual guide makes checking the fit much easier for parents.

It is so important to get the right shoe size for kids and if you are as busy as myself, this works a wonder and gets the sizing right

These are fab, we had these before when my children were younger – great if your children tend to scuff their toes.

This is so cute! My dino-crazy little boy would definitely be excited to have these as his new school shoes. I think they’re reasonably priced too, so we’ll probably check them out in-store. I’d prefer to have him try them on first to make sure we get the right fit.
