We love showcasing and celebrating local venues as we are big on supporting small business. In our post today, we are going to share with you a quirky little Tea Room in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire which is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland called Rabbit Hole Tea Room.
From the outside the Tea Room looks very ordinary and like any other shop, but as soon as you step in, you will be whisked away to a magical faraway land filled with whimsical beauty.
This charming family run tea room first opened its doors in 2018 and has since been serving delicious home-made cakes, freshly baked scones, savoury items such as sandwiches, pies as well as sweet desserts. Tea enthusiasts will be pleased to know that they serve a selection of loose tea with their choice of afternoon tea. So get ready to go on an adventure as we share our experience with you.
What Did We Think of the Afternoon Tea?
What an experience it was to enjoy the Afternoon Tea at Rabbit Hole Tea Room!
I did hear about the tea room but never had the chance to visit it until I was gifted a Gift Voucher for two to visit the tea room.
Soon as I walked in, I noticed the artificial grass and flowers creeping all over the walls, Alice in Wonderland themed props greeted me from the wall of clocks, life-sized dodo bird as well as quirky soft furnishing, hanging tea cups and unmatched tables and chairs which gave the whole place a unique character.
My husband and I were guided to our table, right under the ‘follow the white rabbit sign’ where we were asked about food allergies and scone/cake choices and soon were brought our tea of choice.
The tea room felt cosy as tables were quite close to each other, but that did not bother us. We all still had plenty of room and enjoyed looking around in awe at their décor. Our loose tea was quickly served followed by a magnificent looking 3-tier-stand filled to the brim with delicious sweet cakes, warm scones and hearty sandwiches. There were also plenty of crisps, salads as well as little bowls of chutneys, fruit preserves and clotted creams.
It was my husband’s birthday, so our Afternoon Tea Cake Tier arrived with sparklers and we were given extra cakes as well. So remember to let them know if you are celebrating a special occasion or have any food related allergies.
I loved that so much care and detail had been put into the Afternoon Tea from the rabbit shaped shortbreads to little notes which say ‘Eat Me’ or ‘Drink Me’. Although we had a time slot allocated to us (around an hour and forty five minutes), we did not feel rushed at all, we had plenty of time to enjoy our Afternoon Tea, chat and still had so much cake to take back home as we could not finish it all.
Finding a unique and “Instagrammable” location such as this in Stoke is very rare hence it was such a pleasure heading there. On top of that, the cakes were tasty and the staff ever so attentive and friendly.
Booking via their website is easy, I would say email would be the best way to contact them as they may not always answer phone calls due to their limited staff. Also, If I could change one thing, I would have opted for one sweet and one savoury Afternoon Tea to balance the sweet and savoury treats offered to us.

All prices listed are per person and you need to pre-book your preferred date/time slot. The slots are usually for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Where is the Rabbit Hole Tea Room?
Located not far from Kings Hall, the Rabbit Hole Tea Room is accessible via Kingsway Car Park (back door) or via the Tea Room’s front entrance. If there is an event going on at Kings Hall, you can always park on Hyde Street Car Park or at Stoke Market.

Open 11.30am to 3.30pm Thursday to Sunday.
