Birth of the Tiptons: by Philip Davidson, is our latest book review we are sharing from the string of reviews we have over the next few weeks. Published by YouCaxton, this is an unusual book combining both History with Fantasy.

What I thought of Birth of the Tiptons
I wanted to start with an insight into the Author of this book. Philip Davidson was born into the world of writing through his father, the well-known spy writer, named Lionel Davidson.
When reading this book it’s clear to see that P. Davidson has a natural flair for writing, however, his style won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. I found his book, although quite an interesting tale, difficult to read. I ended up having to go back and forth as I wasn’t always sure whether I missed something due to how the story flowed.
The book Birth of the Tiptons: The Legend and the Mission is the first instalment of a three-book series. This first book is an introduction to the Tipton boys born in the 1800s, where most of the book is set. However, the start of the story starts in 2016. It then travels to the 1800s and then introduces you to certain characters but then jumps from person to person and story to story. Each part is connected. However, it makes it difficult to follow.
I was curious to read the book but by the end, was quite lost. My mind prefers a more linear story. You might like this style of writing though especially if you are a reader who likes to stop-start, it just wasn’t for me.
I think Davidson has a unique style and some people will probably love the fast-paced and often slightly chaotic feel to the story, so don’t be put off by my thoughts on this book as you might enjoy it still. Unlike other books where I can say that they are dragged-out stories, this isn’t, it is simply a style not for me. So please do check out Philip Davidson and see what you think.

This sounds like an interesting book. I have the same problem you do with following stories that bounce back and forth, but the idea of history laced with fantasy is intriguing enough for me to pick this one up.

I understand the feeling of reading something that is jumping from one timeline to another and me trying to put everything together. Not my cup of tea… I would love to read something that will not stress me out.
