This is the second book after The Dilemma which we are featuring on the blog and like the first book, this book will not disappoint, is full of mystery and will keep you guessing until the end.
The story starts off when Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive.
As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating, grisly secret about her new home, and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before.
Alice becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened two years before. But no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbours are keeping secrets and things are not as perfect as they seem…
What did I think of the eBook?
The Therapist is indeed a suspense thriller that is a page-turner, especially towards the end.
The story is about Alice who leaves her beautiful cottage in a small village to move in with her partner, Leo who has been commuting to see her for the past year. Their new home is in an exclusive neighbourhood and a gated estate called The Circle located in Finsbury, London with about a dozen houses and a close-knit neighbourhood.
Leo decided to buy the house at a bargain price when Alice was on holiday hence she has only seen it via photos before moving in herself. Soon as Alice walks into her new home, she feels uncomfortable. She soon gets even more anxious when she finds out that the previous owner was murdered by her husband in the same house.
She starts doing some research and finds out that the victim was a Therapist named Nina Maxwell, who coincidentally has the same first name as Alice’s sister who died in a car accident. She decides to do more digging by socialising with her neighbours and comes to the conclusion that Nina was murdered by someone else…but who?
Her obsession soon takes over her daily life and she starts suspecting her boyfriend as well as her neighbours. The eBook does get a little slow in the middle as she goes in circles trying to figure out who the murderer is but it soon picks up towards the end.
This is definitely a good mystery book to read as, like Alice, I was trying to solve the murder and kept guessing till the end as none of the characters were trustworthy. The eBook does get a little repetitive halfway through but soon picks up thanks to a few unexpected twists. A lovely book to download to your Kindle and add to your reading list this Summer.
