Children’s Book Review: Football Superstars – Quizzes Rule*

We were sent a copy of Football Superstars: Football Quizzes Rule which is published by Welbeck Publishing to feature on the blog.  The book is basically the ultimate quiz book, packed with football trivia focusing on today’s major soccer stars and the greatest football tournaments of all time.

Recommended for children aged 5 and above, this book will help your child test their football knowledge with hundreds of funny and fascinating questions about their favourite players and competitions, plus enjoy a variety of other on-the-page activities. Written by Simon Mugford and Illustrated by Dan Green, Football Superstars: Football Quizzes Rule features page after page of hilarious pictures, with loads of jokes, anecdotes and fun throughout. Sections and chapters make the book easy to navigate and a delight to dip in and out of.

What did we think of the book?

My son loves football and checks the scores and keeps tab on his favourite teams, players and their performance. So getting him a copy of this book was perfect as it has kept him busy doing quizzes and research about various players and games. I love children’s activity books as it will take kids away from playing computer games and encourage them to do research and be more involved in the activity.  This book is no different and such a great idea for little ones who love football.

Here’s what my 8-year-old son thought of the book:

I thought the book was fun and interesting because it has questions and activities like word searches, crosswords, anagrams and spot the difference.  What I loved most was that the book did not just talk about one team or just one particular player but it shares a lot of stuff about various teams and their players so you can be a fan of any club and still enjoy the book.  You will also find details on both national teams as well as club teams and players in the book. This book is no different and such a great idea for little ones who love football. It’s also helped me brush up on my knowledge of the sport and improve my football betting!

About The Author

Simon Mugford

After studying the history of everything at Goldsmiths College, Simon worked at the Science Museum making paper aeroplanes and setting fire to hydrogen balloons. Despite being a fully grown man, his favourite subjects include dinosaurs, robots, rockets, loud music and Star Wars. An Ipswich Town fan since they won the FA Cup in 1978 (it’s true – look it up) he lives in Kent with his wife, daughter, and a cat with two names.
