Published by Welbeck Publishing Group, which is now part of Hachette UK Limited the book shares stories about Larry, Downing Street’s chief mouser to Tama, the cat hired as Station Master of a remote Japanese railway station. Battersea’s A Cat a Day contains 365 stories of fascinating felines to enjoy throughout the year.
The front cover is beautifully illustrated and there are cute drawings throughout the book with charming illustrations of cheeky kittens and sleepy old toms. This is the perfect book to snuggle with, for any lover of our four-legged friends.

What I thought of the book
This is the perfect book for busy mums who are always on the go dropping kids off at school clubs and waiting for them, to finish their activity. I can leave the book in my car and enjoy a quick read without feeling that I need to rush and finish the chapter off, as there are 365 short stories which are not only amusing but informative as well.
If you love cats then this book is even more special as it shares stories about various ‘cat heroes’ which you grew up reading about or watching on the big screen.
What my 13-year old daughter thought of the book?
I thought that A Cat A Day was a satisfactory read and written to a high standard. This book has 365 miniature stories about cats hence you can read one story every single day throughout the year!
The tales in the book are very engaging and there are cute cat illustrations on most of the pages so the book is not too wordy. As a lover of cats, I found the book to be informative as I learned a lot of new things about cats which I did not know before. All 365 stories have some links to cats whether it be cats from a TV show/ movie (eg. puss in boots), celebrity cats or just facts about cats.
Each story is written in a diary form with a date at the start of it and a tittle. I personally found 4 September – Room 8 quite fascinating. The story is about a Tabby cat that wandered into into an Elementary School in California. The students were so delighted, that they named him Room 8 after their classroom. He soon became the school mascot before he died in 1968. I found this story rather entertaining as I wondered what it was like to be one of the students, with Room 8 wondering around in your school.
Another story (well more of a fact based story) that caught my attention is the one of 27 August – Crème Puff. This story is about the oldest cat named Crème Puff who lived to 38 years and 3 days. This shocked me because I didn’t think cats could live that long but it turns out they can! Crème Puff lived in Austin, Texas and her brother also has his own story in this book. Crème Puff earned herself the ‘Guinness World Record’ Title of being the oldest cat in history!

Indeed or animal lover if you ask me
What an adorable idea! We have had joke books that do one joke a day, but one short story a day, about a cat, sounds like so much fun.
Yes super fun, but you might read more than one story in one day as it is that good
Although I no longer have cats, I do love them and would love to read this book, if my daughter does not steal it from me first
