We are also featuring Everleaf Forest, Everleaf Mountain and Everleaf Marine from their Everleaf Botanicals Collection. These non-alcoholic aperitifs are not only tasty but also made from sustainably-sourced botanicals which are delicious!

Finally, if you know someone who loves Gin but is always worried about the alcohol level, calories is gluten-free as well as vegan, then this is the drink for them!  The Luxlo Pomegranate and Raspberry would be the perfect tiple this Christmas and what a beautiful gift this would make as well.   So let’s raise our glasses and celebrate a fabulous 2021 and pray that 2022 will only get better.

Takamaka Dark Spiced Rum

In the Tropics of the Seychelles situated in the depths of the Indian Ocean, near to the northern tip of Madagascar, and with its closest neighbour Mauritius, Takamaka is located within the perfect place to grow sugar cane, and what comes next from sugar cane? As well as molasses and sugar, well of course rum! And this is just what Takamaka produce. Sugar Cane has been made to make rum in the tropics since the age of pirates, but in the case of Takamaka, they have been perfecting their skills in rum making for the past 14 years and developing their concept for over 20 years.

Takamaka Rum is made with the heart of the Seychelles within it, with its culture and links to France, Britain and Africa. It is lovingly made by two brothers who have a strong history with Seychelles as they are from one of the founding families to the then largely uninhabited Islands. Their love for rum has come from their Grandpappy René and has now been maintained within the Takamaka brand.

This golden coloured Takamaka Rum Zenn or Takamaka Dark Rum is the perfect gift this Christmas, with its velvety tastes from the aromas of vanilla and caramel and what better way to spice up your festivities. Rum is steadily taking heed on Gin and quite rightly! Although I love the fresh botanical taste of gin, I much prefer the dark sweet taste of rum, and I find it a much more decadent drink.

If you know someone who thinks like me about rum, then Takamaka Dark Rum is the ideal gift for them. Its priced at £24.95 and is available at Master of Malt.

Black Cow Vodka

When it comes to Christmas time I love nothing more then a spiced alcoholic drink, but so often it comes in the form of a hot wine, and sometimes when its cosy inside, there’s nothing nicer than a cold cocktail to enjoy with some winter canapés! Black Cow have the perfect drink to combine these two festive feelings, with their Christmas Spirit Vodka. Black Cow Christmas Spirit is made with deep wintery fruits like, currents, figs, raisin and orange, as well as a touch of lemon zest, and the warm spice of cinnamon, and the comforting flavour of vanilla mmm.

They suggest drinking this as a Champagne cocktail, but you could also make a gorgeous wintery cocktail, with a measure of Black Cow Christmas Spirit, the juice of one lemon, some crushed ice and topped with a fiery ginger beer. You’ll get that great combination of Christmas pudding flavours from the vodka and a nice warming sensation from the ginger beer. So, if you think you might want this at your Christmas table, be sure to add it to your gift list.

It a great mid-priced gift for any adult friend that likes a spirt, and comes in at £25. You can get yours at Black Cow, where you will equally be able to roam free and find many of the other fascinating flavours they have on offer.

Lucky Saint

Christmas is a time for people to generally get merry in more ways than one, but if you’re like me and although you love a cheeky cocktail or a nice cold beer, I also enjoy a full range of non-alcoholic drinks/low alcohol drinks. This is where our latest gift idea comes in! I come from a family of mixed drinkers! As in, some of my family members drink and others don’t at all and are t-total. So when you get invited over for a meal it’s nice to bring a gift that your non-drinker family members can also enjoy. These Lucky Saint Beers come in a 12 pack box and make a great gift for a Christmas party, or to take as a gift at a family Christmas dinner. Lucky Saint means you can enjoy a tasty adult style beverage, with the knowledge that you’ll still be able to drive granny home at the end of the evening!

Lucky Saint’s aim is to change traditional beer fans to the ways of alcohol-free beer. So often they try but don’t quite hit the mark, but the difference with Lucky Saint is their no alcohol beer (well as much alcohol in it as a ripe banana) is unfiltered, which means that its has lots of taste compared to its competitors. The flavour means that you’re less likely to think this is alcohol-free, which for some of us adds to the enjoyment.

If you would like to gift a 12 pack of Lucky Saint Beer like the one we’ve featured you can get them here on their website and it costs £25 with free delivery. You can also get them in bottle form if you prefer with similar pricing, Another great feature is you can actually gift someone a three-month subscription, which makes for a great alternative gift, for a fresh and hangover-free Christmas.

Le Versant Pinot Noir & Les Quatre Chemins Sauvignon

Wine is a handy gift at any time of the year – but especially at Christmas. It’s a good idea to keep a few bottles at home, just in case you get a last-minute invite to a festive party and don’t want to turn up empty-handed. Wine is also useful as an extra something to put under the tree for a relative or friend.

Coming in at less than £10, Le Versant Pinot Noir is an easy-drinking, vegan red wine from the Pays d’Oc region of France. With a beautiful, rich Pinot perfume, the fruit has been selected to offer a very specific ripeness for each of the different grape varieties. The sun-blessed grapes are rich in flavour and produce a deliciously refined wine, priced £9.99.

Les Quatre Chemins Sauvignon 2019 is one for fans of white wine. Made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, this wine has soft aromas of gooseberry and grapefruit, with a little spice. And due to the warm climate, the wine has lost some of its acidity usually associated with this grape variety. Priced £11.95, Les Quatre Chemins Sauvignon – from the Pays D’Oc region – is very drinkable on its own, or with fish and poultry.

IGP Pays d’Oc varietal wines cover an extensive, sun-kissed region, between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, in southern France. Since 2009, Pays d’Oc wines have benefited from an official quality sign recognised at European level – the Protected Geographical Indication (IGP).

Everleaf non-alcoholic aperitif collection

Throughout the year, but particularly during the festive season, we love to be able to offer quality drinks that don’t seem like an inferior substitute for those who are choosing the non-alcoholic option. With that in mind, we were looking forward to trying Everleaf’s collection of three complex, non-alcoholic aperitifs from sustainably-sourced botanicals. Everleaf Forest is a broadly citrus and spiced blend, including saffron and orange blossom.

This was my favourite of the three as I don’t have a sweet tooth and felt it would pair well with savoury snacks. Everleaf Marine includes juniper and bergamot and is crafted with gin drinkers in mind. This is by far the most subtle of the three drinks, quite refreshing, but could easily be swamped by mixers or cocktail ingredients. Everleaf Mountain botanicals include cherry blossom, strawberry and rose-hip. One friend described this blend as a perfect summer drink; another said it was festive and would complement chocolate –clearly a drink for all seasons!

We felt all three of the blends had a luxurious mouthfeel, flavours that lingered on the palette and were ideal for drinking on their own or over ice. As the flavours are quite subtle, increased quantities would need to be served with a mixer or as part of the many delicious non-alcoholic cocktails you can find on Everleaf’s website. Individual Everleaf blends cost £19.00 for a 50cl bottle, collections are available at bundle prices and all combinations can be purchased directly from their website via this link.
