We served ours at a dinner party: I made a baked vanilla cheesecake, but was rather short on time to do any extra toppings, so after dinner, out came the cake and the jar of peaches. A couple of peach or pear halves per person alongside a drizzle of the fragrant syrup beautifully finished off the desert. They were velvety soft and delicious, and everybody really enjoyed them. It did take a moment or two to open the jars (well-sealed!) but this rather added to the fun as we all had a go at getting the fruit out.

The serving suggestions include dropping cherries into prosecco, or adding fruit to a trifle, baked pudding or tart, but they are perfect in their simplest form; straight out of the jar either on their own or working their magic with a cheesecake.
