[Ad-gifted] If you’re starting off the year with clean living and a more conscious approach to the environment when it comes to food and drinks, you need to check out our latest blog post.
This January we are trying out Milky Plant milk alternative maker. Oat Milk and other milk alternatives are big business nowadays and more popular than ever – but finding ones that are free from additives isn’t always easy, this is why Milky Plant has the answer.
Their machine has been designed for you to be able to make your own milk alternative at home. In our latest review, we will show you the steps it takes to make your own milk and review how well the machine works.
Keep on reading to find out what we thought of Milky Plant and where you can get yours if this is something on your wish list this year.

What we thought of the Milky Plant
Firstly, let me tell you what was in the box. It’s very well packaged and comes with the machine, a handy glass bottle that fits perfectly in the machine, a measuring cup, a cleaning brush, instruction sheets and some little sheets of seeds – a bonus added extra. All the packaging and paper/card instructions are all recyclable – there is maybe only the odd zip-lock tie that is plastic – but you can probably pop this in your recycling too depending on where you live.
It is very easy to use all you need to do is add water to the machine – only fill to the capacity stated. Then you add your chosen, nuts or oats (we chose oats) – again don’t be tempted to put more in, as you will block/break the machine, then all you do is pop your glass bottle underneath and turn the machine on to work its magic. It takes a few minutes to go through the process of grinding and blending the contents with water to create your milk alternative, but it’s done pretty quickly and much easier than heading out to the shops as you can do this in your PJs in the morning, ready for your freshly made breakfast!
The bottle is the perfect say for travelling too, so although it only makes enough for one of the bottles provided at a time – I would say it provides you with enough for a bowl of cereal and a couple of cups of coffee or tea. You can then, simply, make another bottle – as it’s so straightforward and fairly quick to do – for you to take to work. Or if you are organised you could buy a big glass bottle and make several batches at once, allowing you to keep some in the fridge for the day ahead.
Although initially we only made the milk with oats – I then also it with hazelnuts and sweetened it with sugar – you can also use date caramel to sweeten your milk, maple syrup, honey or even agave – you could even add a touch of vanilla or salt depending on how you like it. What else is great is you can use the pulp that is left over in the machine to make cookies or add it as the flour to a cake. So basically no waste! So, as you can see it’s a great concept. Of course, if you don’t want to make anything with the pulp, you can also compost it.
I think this machine, although quite pricey, is a great buy. I love a gadget and this can fit on the side and looks quite nice, but it’s compact enough to be stored in a cupboard too – having said that if you use it daily it is most likely best left out. This is a big purchase, but if you drink lots of milk alternatives – it’s a must, as they are so full of things that we shouldn’t be consuming regularly, which means that what should be healthy turns out not to be. But with Milky Plant, you can make plant-based milk alternatives that are free of crazy unnecessary additives and make them as pure as you want – you could even be super conscious and use filtered water rather than plain old tap.
Where can you get yours and how much is it?
You can get it directly from the Milk Plant website and it is currently priced at £275.
About Milk Plant
Milky Plant has been set up by Michael and Nadina who wanted clean and healthy plant milk without all the additives and preservatives you might find in your regular store-bought plant milk. Plant milks that you buy usually found in tetre pack cartons, are actually far from truly healthy, due to the high saturated fats they often have, along with additives and preservatives, and finding ones without can be difficult and costly. So with a passion for pure plant milks, they wanted to revolutionise the market and provide a way for people to make their own.
By making your own milk with Mily Plant Nadina and Michael have created a machine that allows you to make milk at home, with no fuss, in no time and with no waste! Plus you can add all the extra ingredients you want knowing that the plant milk you are making is free from additives and preservatives making it truly pure and healthy.
