[Ad] It’s Veganuary and also Dry January, so our next blog is perfect if you’re trying to do your bit to be healthier this month and perhaps a bit more planet conscious. Drinks are always tricky, and if you’re one to avoid a lot of big brand sodas (like we tend to – unless it’s as a treat), but are still searching for a drink that is a great non-alcoholic alternative, or something that has a bit more of wow than a regular of the shelf soft drinks, you need to check out what we thought of GUNNA Craft Soft Drinks.
GUNNA are a brand born out of an idea to create better-tasting lemonade, which acts as the base flavour for all the GUNNA drinks. I love lemonade and many of its counterparts, like pink lemonade and lemon & limeade, so was eager to taste these delightful cans of pop. Keep reading to find out more of what we thought and interestingly how this brand are not only trying to pave the way for some exciting drinks but also helping to eradicate the use of single-use plastic bottles for soft drinks (let’s hope they can!).

What we thought of GUNNA Craft Soft Drinks
Well, firstly these look the part. The drinks are held within an attractive (non-plastic) can and are decorated with the iconic GUNNA logo, the name of the drink, and a little animal graphic to match, the cans are in metallic colours, ranging from yellow, orange, pink, green and teal blue, all of which are super appealing.
What’s more, the founder of GUNNA drinks has consciously chosen to use metal cans in the manufacturing of his drinks moving away from single-use plastic bottles.
We cracked open our drinks to accompany our evening meal. The kids were eating in the living room before heading to the Brazilan Jujitsu (hence their outfits) and we thought the GUNNA drinks would be the perfect partner.
We were surprised to find that there was a perfect flavour for all five of us! I had Twisted GUNNA which is lemon and mint, my eldest daughter had Pink Punk a pink lemonade, my eldest son had Sundowner – lemon and lime, my youngest had Ginger Rebel (as he loves ginger beer) which has – as you may have guessed – ginger in it, and finally, my husband, who loved Lilt back in the day had Turtle Juice, which is a tropical flavoured lemonade.

We were quite surprised by the subtle but suitably pleasant-tasting combos. The Pink Punk, pink lemonade turned out to be the majority favourite, with a close second to the Ginger Rebel – that actually tasted like ginger ale and ginger beer had a baby! The most surprising flavour was the Turtle Juice – I thought it would taste more of mango, but we found the coconut to be the most prominent flavour. Each flavour was fun to drink and made a great alternative to regular lemonade and if poured in a glass makes a nice mocktail for an alcohol-free January.
The only critique I had is with the sweetener ingredient – I would have liked to see the use of a sweetener like Stevia, as I am not a fan of the chemical-based sweetener that is sucralose. And as we don’t often drink low calorie/low sugar drinks, we find that it’s a noticeable taste. Although that being said, it’s not unpleasant in the range of GUNNA Craft Soft drinks we tasted, and they were still super enjoyable – and as previously mentioned a great alternative to the regular soft drink brands.

About GUNNA Craft Soft Drinks
These lemonade-based drinks were crafted with the idea that there was a gap in the market and in our mouths, for some refined and fun-tasting non-alcoholic drinks, that would hit the mark, by quenching your thirst and satisfying your palette at the same time.
GUNNA is the main drink that inspired Melvin the founder and creator of the brand when he first tasted this at his golf club. GUNNA is a mix of ginger ale, lime and bitters which made him realise the depth of possibilities in creating a more flavourful soft drink than the regular types of offer almost everywhere.
Once the flavours were perfected and the funky branding complete, GUNNA was born into the five flavours you will see here today. Be sure to get your plastic-free, ethically sourced can of GUNNA and refresh your taste buds with this thirst-quenching range of craft soft drinks.
