Here’s wishing everyone a very Happy New Year, we are really pleased at how much we have grown in the last year and cannot thank the PR agents, our readers and most importantly the brands who have supported us and sustained us enough. We have covered areas around Staffordshire, Cheshire, Manchester as well as Birmingham and we hope to travel even further sharing our reviews, tips and findings with our readers and social followers.

We are closing 2017 with our last post on some ethical food from VBites which we were sent recently to feature on our website.  The three products are VegiDeli Duck Style & Orange Pate, VegiDeli Bacon & Sausage Style Wraps and VBites’ VegiDeli Cheezly & Cranberry Bites from VBites’s 2017 Christmas range.

What we thought about it

The products arrived promptly and well packaged and it was still cool. Although none of us are vegan,we compared the taste of these products to the flavours we are familiar with.  The Duck Pate, we felt did not have a silky smooth feel to it and the orange flavour wa a little too strong for us.  The Cheezly & Cranberry Bites were yum especially eaten warm, it had a nice crunchiness to it.  Lastly the meat free sausage…. this tasted quite nice, you could get the taste of the wheat and soya coming through.  The bacon style wrap was quite similar to real bacon but was firmer.   These vegan products are a great substitute for those who are looking for meat free option.

The sausage and bacon style wraps sound quite good. We’ve been thinking of having less meat but would miss bacon too much hahaha so definitely looking into this.

I think it’s great that you did an honest review! 😊 I’m a veggie and although I love that there are so many meat free options, not all of them are 100% great haha. Loved the post. Happy New Year!

Yes you are absolutely right, as meat eaters, we know when a substitute is good enough and when a susbtitute is not. Either way its so great that there are so many variety and options available for vegan and vegetarian eaters.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on the vegan products. I haven’t eaten sausages for 3 years now, so I wonder if I would think they taste more like the real thing than you did.

Oh yes, we would like to know too, so if you do try, come back and share your thoughts with us

This isn’t a brand I’ve heard of but my neighbour is Vegan so I’ll mention it to her. I like the sound of the duck style pate, although I’d have to see if the orange is to strong for me too. Mich x

These sound like great vegan products and meat free substitutes, although what a shame you weren’t all that impressed with the pate – I love pate so would probably struggle there.

These products would probably be great for those taking part in Veganuary who are looking for some substitutes to their usual meaty foods.

yeahlifestyle January 1, 2018 - 5:58 pm

Yes totally, we also want to eat more vegetables in January so these products are great substitute

Im not a vegetarian, or vegan, but I think it’s great you are reviewing these items to help those who are! Im not sure they appeal to me, sadly we do love to eat meat way too much!

Linda January 1, 2018 - 7:23 pm

We’re exploring veganism at the moment or at the very least reducing our meat intake so we’ll be checking these out to see how they compare.

I am intrigued by this trend to make meat looking products out of plant-based foods. I mean, if one is going to adopt a plant diet why try and make it look like a meat one? Still, I bet they taste fab 🙂

Amanda Millie January 2, 2018 - 8:51 pm

They sound interesting, I think my friend would enjoy these. Its a shame I am intolerant to wheat and soya:-(

I really like VegiDeli stuff! The bacon is awesome – especially fried until very crisp and then served up in a sarnie 🙂

VegiDeli sounds ideal for vegans and vegitarians
