We love showcasing local business, events or destinations on the blog, so super excited to share with you some stunning photos taken at a recent press and influencer day organised by the Team at Moat House in Acton Trussell in Staffordshire.
We were given a tour of the 14th-century property, its surroundings, restaurant as well as its gorgeous and spacious bedrooms. Nestled in the heart of rural Staffordshire, the Moat House is located just 4 miles from Stafford. After our tour, we were all treated to a sumptuous and delicious meal prepared in their 4AA award-winning restaurant. Keep on reading to find out more about the 600-year-old building which is the perfect setting to hold your wedding, private parties or head out for a couple of nights to relax and unwind.

Walking into the Moat House, the first thing that caught my eyes was the array of the beautifully designed fresh flower by Fox Gloves and Feathers Floristry (I am holding the stunning bouquet of flowers made by them).
As we sat down to wait for the rest of the press and influencers to arrive, we were introduced to the Lewis family who own and run The Moat House. We were told that The Moat House prides itself in organising bespoke wedding/event and even give the bridal couple full exclusivity of the venue (on -pre-allocated dates).

The grade 2 listed manor house which first started as a village pub and restaurant has now become an independent, award-winning hotel and restaurant without losing any of its unique charm or personality.
Bespoke was the word of the day, as we were told that the hotel staff would be happy to create a bespoke and unique wedding for the clients and create the most beautiful backdrops to match your unique themes of sky blue in case your theme colour is blue as mine was. See an example (above) of how the dinner tables are set up for weddings.

We were shown outdoor locations which are popular with the bridal party to take their wedding photographs. Do note the flowers are freshly set-up just for weddings (in this case for our press and influencer day). The stunning flower display above the door has been done by Myrtle Fox and Maude.
Alternatively, bridal couples can also have their wedding outdoors against the backdrop of Moat House’ pretty Lakeside Pergola with access and views to horse chestnut tree, quaint canal bridges and stunning backdrop.

Next, we were shown the various rooms available to the bridal couple and party depending on their choice/package. The family-owned hotel now offers 41 appointed bedrooms, conference and banqueting facilities that can accommodate from 2 up to 200 people.
We were taken to the restaurant and shown various available room and table set-up, after which we all sat down and tasted the delicious food prepared by the Chef. We had a lovely view of the Staffordshire & Worchestershire Canal from where we sat. The Orangery is usually home to their award-winning restaurant, but bridal couples can choose to make it the setting for an unforgettably romantic ceremony and host their dinner there.

For starters, we were served spiced quail, lentil dhall, cauliflower, curry crisp, pickled carrot which was served with a glass of Pehhocora Pecorino or Elderflower Fizz (non-alcoholic version). The food as you can see looks absolutely stunning and tasted amazing when paired with the suggested alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink.

For mains, I chose the Fallow deer, squash jam, Jerusalem artichoke, pickled pear, kale, girolles which was served with a stunning glass of Appassimento di Puglia or Ariel Cabernet Sauvignon (low alcohol). Again, what a meal to be served as a guest at a wedding!

For pudding, we were served a stunning dessert made with Valhorna chocolate cremeux, lime, coconut sorbet, caramelised puffed rice, mango espuma which was served with a glass of Quady Elysium Black Muscat or Espresso MartiNO (non-alcoholic option – see photo below).

About The Moat House
The Moat House has been owned and run by the Lewis family since 1955. The Moat House was converted in 1988 into a restaurant and village pub. After 9 successful years, with the business bursting at the seams, the family decided to expand.
In 1997, the Moat House was upgraded to a 21 bedroom luxury hotel and conference centre and was officially opened by the late Lord Lichfield of Shugborough in January 1998.
Following a fire in January 1999, the restaurant, kitchen and bar were completely renovated.
More bedrooms were added in 2000 and another complementary extension in 2006 has seen the addition of more bedrooms, bringing the total number to 41 as well as a state of the art.
