In this post, we will be sharing about their 17″ Electric Pizza Ovens and some of their accessories.
Cozze® 17” Electric Oven
Cozze® sells many different types of ovens, but when it comes to pizza ovens, they only sell two types, gas and electric and these come in two sizes i.e. 13″ and 17″. The 17″ Electric Oven we are showcasing measures 60.5 × 60.5 × 30.5 cm and uses a 230V / 2200 Watt. This oven is perfect for a small business or large family parties as it can make large pizzas up to 42.5 cm.
The oven comes with a solid LFGB-approved cordierite pizza stone and includes the pizza door to help regulate the heat. The oven is made from powdercoated zink plated steel hence can withstand very high temperature but it is extremely heavy as well. Perfect for creating restaurant-quality pizza at home.
Cozze® Pizza Cutting Board, Bamboo
I would certainly recommend getting the cutting board from Cozze® which is made from FSC®-certified bamboo. Measuring 35x46x2cm the cutting board comes with dual functionality, one side has a grooved surface hence great for creating the perfect pizza slices while the other side is flat for serving.
Unlike normal cutting/chopping boards, there are no lines/markers left on the Cozze® bamboo board when you use a pizza cutter on it. It also comes with a handle, so easy to move the pizza from the oven to the table.
The surface area is large hence you can also add other accompaniments on it if you’d like. The board is easily cleaned and safe for food contact.
Door for 17″ Pizza Gas Oven
I would recommend getting the pizza oven door for your Cozze® Gas Pizza Oven as the door helps maintain the heat in the oven when cooking the pizza.
Weighing just 600g, the door is made of stainless steel, the door comes with a heat-resistant Bakelite handle so you can easily open and close the pizza door.
The oven we are featuring here is the Electric Pizza Oven model hence it comes with the pizza door included.
Cozze® Lightweight Pizza Paddle
This pizza paddle is a must have! Measuring 60 cm in length and made from stainless steel with a matt finish, it has a flat surface to help transfer the pizza from the oven to the board.
The lightweight paddle has a smooth aluminium surface that helps prevent the dough from sticking. But do add a bit of flour as well on it or it will be hard to slide the pizza into the oven.
The paddle comes with a long handle with a combined stainless steel and plastic construction provides a secure and comfortable grip. The strap allows you to hang the paddle close to the pizza table or within reach.
What did I think of the Pizza Oven?
With summer at our doorstep, making pizzas and fresh bread is something we do quite often as we tend not to buy store bought pizza. But getting the perfect and crispy base has sometimes been a struggle as I use our standard home oven to cook the pizza which goes up to 250C.
So when I was asked to review the Cozze® Electric oven, I was super excited as I wanted to try to see what the oven can do. There are two options available, gas and electric, and we opted for electric mainly as we wanted to place this on our patio and did not want an open fire gas/smoke style oven fuelled by charcoal, wood, gas or wood pellets.
Another reason being, we are also into clean living and did not want to keep a gas bottle at home. Setting up the electric oven was easy, the oven just needed 30 minutes to be pre-heated to 400C (it is important to pre-heat the oven so don’t omit this process).
Assembling the pizza oven was easy, the unit came with instruction booklets as well as a pizza recipe, there are also more recipes available on their website for avid cooks. The oven is available in two sizes, the size we have reviewed here is the 17″ model. For home usage it is better to opt for 13″ pizzas as the size would have be perfect, I found the 17″ bulky and heavy and not very portable. That being said, it made amazing pizzas and I am on a mission to try naan bread and calzone next. The pizza doughs can also be made in advance and frozen so great when you are having a pizza party or are a busy working parent. Cooking the pizza is effortless and in minutes, just stay close as to ensure it does not get burned.
Another benefit of getting the electric oven is that you can make pizzas all year round and even if you are living in an apartment. There was a bit of smoke when we first used it, but after that, it was not smoky at all, just leave your windows open.
The oven is expensive but worth it, as it will be worth your investment especially when you have people around to watch the football or a great way of entertaining family and friends at birthday parties.
Pros
- The pizza oven is amazing and makes delicious shop-styled pizza
- The pizza oven comes with clear instructions and a fool proof recipe hence anyone who has not made a pizza before can easily make the pizza in around 2 hours and the dough can be frozen as well in case you are having a party
- The oven comes with a solid LFGB-approved cordierite pizza stone which gets extremely hot and creates the perfect pizza base, it is thin and light, hence can be removed to clean after each usage.
- Great way to entertain and made pizza quickly
- The pizza oven also comes with a pizza door, to retain heat
- I would recommend getting the wooden board for cutting pizza, as it is so sturdy and also doubles as a serving plate.
- The pizza paddle is also a fabulous accessory to have as it help you rotate the pizza to get an even cook and to help place the pizza in the hot oven
- The electric pizza oven is perfect for placing outdoors (if you have electric supply), indoors, on the patio (if you live in an apartment/flat) as it does create much smoke
- The oven is also easy to clean and only placed in a designated area, you don’t need to move it around much
Cons
- It took me around 2-3 tests to be able to get used to the heat of the oven and cook the pizza to perfection without burning it as the oven heat goes up to around 500C and the pizza cooks in minutes hence can easily burn if you as not keeping an eye on the pizza
- The pizza can get extremely hot, so caution must be taken when small children are present, the paddles also can get hot, so would suggest placing the oven in an area where children are not running around when being used.
- The oven uses 230V / 2200 Watt so you need to ensure you have strong cables
- The pizza oven which we received is 17″ in size, measuring 60.5 × 60.5 × 30.5cm hence takes up a large space and extremely heavy, making it not portable. It also needs a very sturdy table and if you are placing this outside, in a covered area.
- I would recommend the 17″ more for a small business or a very large family. In hindsight, I should have gone for the 13″ size which would have been perfect for regular family usage.
- I found cleaning the stone was easy (when it was cooled) but there were burnt stains left on it and this did not come off easily (don’t worry, this does not affect the pizza making process).
- The Pizza oven does not come with accessories, there are pizza cutting boards, covers pizza paddles available but these need to be purchased separately
- You will like us, end up making pizza every other week as you would love the pizza oven so I would watch the calories
