[Ad-gifted] The BYO Kits are back – we are here again reviewing a second Wallace & Gromit Kit. This time we have the Sidecar Plane to build and review.
In case you missed it; a few weeks back we reviewed the Build Your Own – Wallace & Gromit Rocket, which was huge and took several days to build. This time the build is slightly less challenging but just as fun. Fewer pieces make the end result faster to achieve so great for youngsters who want a quicker build.
Keep on reading to find out what we thought of BYO Kit’s Sidecar Plane.

What we thought of the BYO Wallace & Gromit Sidecar Plane
Compared to the last build we did this one has run a lot more smoothly – maybe we are more practised or it simply is a more straightforward build. You might have to test this out yourselves to see whether you agree with us on this or not.
That being said we still had a couple of moments where either the gap for a piece was a little bit tight or we pushed it through a little too hard, which meant that we had a small tear and the odd overbending or card – but we just got out the sellotape, made our repairs and carried on. It didn’t affect the structure/stability of the model at all.

One thing we did find a little tricky at times much like with our last build is the fact that the pieces (that create the model) are spread over several pieces of card – so you have to search for the correct numbers that correspond with instructions – this can take a bit of time and when making it with children, this is often the part at which they might need a bit of help.
Another fun aspect of this build, like with the rocket, is its moveable parts. I love the thought that has gone into creating and designing these kits – the attention to detail is amazing. You can see wires and pipes, plus the fact that the sidecar plane is powered by porridge and has a box of porridge visible is all the more fun!
Regardless of the hiccups we experienced – it all goes together so well and in making it you get to see all the little fun aspects of the illustrations inside the plane. We love making these build-your-own models, especially the ones themed around Wallace & Gromit and we hope you do too – to find out where to get yours keep reading.

Where can you get your Sidecar Plane Build Your Own Kit?
You can get yours here from the BYO website and it only costs £14.99.
About Build Your Own
Build Your Own create kits are all made from sustainable cardboard and have been created to encourage kids away from screens and make family connections whilst also building something fun that can be used or displayed afterwards.
They are S.T.E.M inspired and can be bought to suit a range of ages. All the kits slot together, so are fairly straightforward to construct. They all take a varying amount of time, with most giving you an approximate estimate of build time on the box, all depending upon the number of pieces in the kits.
Their hope is to inspire young minds to build and create beyond the kits and learn new skills along the way.
