Scrubbee 100% Natural, Vegan and Sustainable Coffee Based Skincare

I’m into my skincare, I have been since my mid-twenties when I panicked about my lack of self-care and the fact that I genuinely believed it would all go down hill in my thirties, which being in my thirties I’m now ashamed to say! However, I have found I now take much better care of myself and my skin in a bid to look as young as I feel.

Skincare is a minefield with so many different types, products and brands where do you even start? I cleanse, tone and moisturise and have always loved a good scrub! I suffer from dry skin so exfoliating is a must for me, but there are so many benefits to it for all. It removes dead skin cells, allowing new cells to resurface giving your skin a gorgeous glow. Removes dirt, unclogs your pores, evens your skin tone and boosts circulation.

I spent my teenage years singing ‘I don’t want no scrubs’ and my adult years searching for the perfect one! With so many brands on the market, where do you even start? I always look for natural products – virtually edible and cruelty-free. So far Scrubbee ticks all the boxes, 100% vegan, cruelty-free and plastic-free!

I opted for the Scrubbee for dry skin, formulated for flaky skin with avocado and sunflower seed oil. I suffer with psoriasis and I have a patch around my nose which has been a problem area for some time, with it being on my face I’m forever searching for natural products to help combat it as I do not want to be using anything prescribed on my face to thin the skin. After having a look at the benefits of the key ingredients I’m really excited to see that avocado oil not only increases collagen but helps reduce redness, wrinkles and psoriasis!! Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties make it a perfect moisturiser. Sunflower oil is packed with essential, unsaturated fatty acids making it a powerful moisturiser. Rich in vitamins A and E which provides cell regeneration. If I could describe all the things I want from skincare these ingredients sum it up so I’m excited to give this a try.

What did I think about it?

I couldn’t wait to give this a whirl. It arrived first thing which was ideal for my fresh face! Sweetly packed and all packaging fully recyclable too! It’s a good size tub for your face packed to the top so it will last a good while. Smells like fresh coffee with a hint of lemon maybe and tea tree. It comes with a nice little thank you card and spatula to mix.

I followed the instructions to wash my face first which I did with my cleanser, stirred the product with the spatula provided and added a 2p sized amount to my face on damp skin rubbing in a circular motion as advised. I left it on for a moment (I used this time to grab a selfie) and washed it off with warm water. I then splashed with cold water making sure I closed my freshly cleaned pores.

As far as a scrub goes it’s a bloody good scrub! I’ve tried many face exfoliants which are so gentle you wouldn’t know it was a scrub. You can really feel it exfoliating your face which I love, but when I washed it off my god my skin felt delicious! Literally felt smoother than my baby’s bum. I have found some face scrubs feel thick with oil after, but this just felt gorgeous. My patches of psoriasis feel better already and that’s with one use. I kept my face make-up free throughout the day and I’ve not stopped touching my skin not advised to touch your face all day with your hands I know, but I just can’t help myself. I’m definitely going to continue using this product and I’m excited to see the long-term results.

About Scrubbee

Srubbee was founded by Maddie who struggled with her skin throughout her student years and could not find natural skincare alternatives that fit her. To solve this, she started making her own products from accessible ingredients by researching and formulating using online guides. It wasn’t until she wondered if there could be another use for her cafetière full of used coffee grounds every morning, that the idea for Scrubbee began!

If this was going to waste, how much is going to waste from coffee shops and cafés every single day?

After a lot of learning and hundreds of recipes came Scrubbee. They have a product line of four 100% vegan, cruelty-free and plastic-free coffee face scrubs.

Over 500,000 tonnes of coffee in the UK is sent to landfill every year it produces methane a greenhouse gas 86x more potent than CO2. They take coffee from partnered coffee shops and turn it into Scrubbee reducing waste and savings 5 cups of coffee going to landfills!

I’m not a fan of coffee smelling things, but I know coffee scrubs work really well so I’d love to give this a go. I’ve used coffee body scrubs before and they’ve been great x
