What we thought of the book
I find although my children are avid readers, they tend to stick to a certain type of book as they get older. I picked Escape Room by award-winning author by Christopher Edge for my son as as I know he would not pick on his own to read. The book touches on AI technology and gaming and the story line is intense and filled with thrilling adventures.
It is a lovely book to help children to be more imaginative and get them out of their comfort zone. The book is filled with suspense that it will encourage them to keep turning every page and be on the edge of their seats till the very last page. This book makes a lovely birthday gift for middle-school going children.
What did my 11-year old son think of the book?
I thought the book was very interesting because it is about a girl called Ami with 4 teammates Adjoa, Ibrahim, Oscar and Min and they all sign up for an escape room called The Escape.
When Ami arrives at the Escape she thinks it is just a game- an escape room with difficult puzzles and challenges to beat before the time runs out but when the Host locks Ami and her teammates in the first room she quickly realises that it is no ordinary game but something more sinister involved.
I liked the book and how it relatable and almost like a real-life scenarios where the teenagers have to use their brains instead of having the answer given to them and how everyone has to work as a team to figure it out. The best part for me was the ending because it was very surprising and I didn’t expect it.
I would certainly recommend this book to children aged 9-15 years-old who love going to Escape Rooms.

This sounds like a great book, that is very up with fun times of escape rooms (not that I have been to one yet). I know this is a book my daughter would have loved
