[Ad-gifted] If you have a tweens who love dogs then Bobby and Bubba’s Small Adventures by Anthony Coombs, former MP, business man and philanthropist would be the book to pick up.
Published by Silverwood Books, the book is about two British bulldog breed called Bobby and Bubba who have turned into some sort of celebrity and have already appeared on TV, magazines and have their own Instagram page.
These are their little stories and adventures on the streets of Chelsea in London …written for children of all ages, for families to enjoy together, particularly if you’re a parent looking for a way to break the vice-like grip of the iPhone and the internet on growing minds. They’re lovable, funny, poignant and even a tiny bit exciting – much like Bobby and Bubba themselves.
What we thought of the book
The book is aimed at young children as bed time stories where parents can read to their little ones or for young readers/tweens up to the age of 12, to read on their own.
The book has around 66 pages and consists of short stories about British Bulldog brothers Bobby & Bubba. Filled with beautiful illustrations by Adam Share, the book can be read in a few hours or read over a period of time, reading one short story a day and discovering the message behind each story from homelessness, being kind as well as addressing feelings such as happiness and being jealousy.
I find there are a lot of share points/discussion topics which parents can then continue to chat about with their children to help them share their emotions. On the downside, I found that the font size of the book was tiny, otherwise the hardcopy book makes a lovely gift for little ones who love dogs or animals.
My 11-year old son loved both Bobby and Bubba and thought they were just adorable. He enjoyed reading about their adventures on the streets of Chelsea as they were in the form of mini stories. Each story also had a message, he enjoyed some stories more than the others. A lovely book for young ones or adults who have an adventurous spirit.
How much is the book and where can you buy it?
The book is available in paperback copy for £14.94 from Amazon while the hardcover retails for £18.15 and the Kindle download is priced at £4.99. Do check the price directly via Amazon as this might change.

About the Author
Although he has written extensively on political and economic topics, this is Anthony Coombs’ first foray into books. He was encouraged to do so by Bobby and Bubba themselves. Whilst relying on the “daddy” Alexander for their everyday needs, they insisted that “grandpa” Anthony use his dwindling literary skills to share with the world their “irresistible charm” and the adventures it gets them into. In any spare time Anthony gets from dog walking, he combines a career as chairman of a FTSE finance company with building houses and overseeing a charitable trust which supports children and young people with physical and mental disability challenges. Following his earlier incarnation as a Member of Parliament, Anthony also likes to write about current affairs.
He loves both football where, despite his father once owning Birmingham City, he is an avid Aston Villa fan, as well as the fancy footwork required in ballet where he sits on the board of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Anthony likes to torture himself at golf, more gently in the gym and to take equal care of his soul as a practising Christian and trustee of Premier Christian Media. Most important of all, he is the proud husband of thirty-eight years to Andrea, and of course the father of B and B’s daddy, Alexander.

I love that this books has so many options for discussion and sharing. I’ve always loved doing that with my kids when we’ve read together.
Agree, great talking/discussion point
I love the illustrations on the front, this looks like such a good book. And it’s nice that you can read just a little short story or more of them depending on how you feel x
I love books like this, as it lets you read one bedtime story every night
Aww this looks so cute!! What a great read for the little ones and I love the cover art too!
Thank you, a lovely book to gift as well
I agree with you on the font but I’m at that age where I probably should consider bifocals. I love to read though and I have a magnifying glass right next to me when I’m reading, just in case. 🙂
Absolutely, I think even for children, the font size should be slightly larger so they are not straining their eyes
