Children's Toy Review: Tock the Learning Clock® from Learning Resources

[Ad-gifted] For my three-year-old son, Tock the Learning Clock® from Learning Resources has been a fantastic blend of learning and play. With its bright colours, friendly face, and interactive features, it’s designed to help little ones take their first steps in understanding time.

The clock has a light-up buttons, movable hands on the analogue display, and built-in games, giving children plenty of ways to explore numbers and sequencing. Tock also features multiple modes to keep play engaging, including Dance Mode, which plays music and encourages movement, Quiz Mode, which gently tests time-telling skills, and an alarm/night-light mode that teaches daily routines by changing from blue to green when it’s time to wake up.

Available in a range of colours, Tock is both eye-catching and practical, making it a fun and educational addition to any child’s room.

What we thought of Tock the Learning Clock®

My three-year-old son was instantly drawn to Tock the Learning Clock® with its bright blue design and friendly face. The clock is easy to set up – you just need three AA batteries (not included) – and once it was ready, he couldn’t wait to explore the different buttons and modes.

His favourite feature by far was the Dance Mode. He found it hilarious spinning the hands and listening to the silly songs, and this kept him happily entertained for ages. The Quiz Mode, which asks children to match times, was a bit too advanced for him at three and a half, but that’s not a bad thing. It feels like a feature he’ll grow into as he starts to understand clocks better, making this toy one that will last him for years.

He did need a bit of help to move the hands accurately at first, but that actually made it a really nice introduction to how clocks work. It’s sparked his interest in telling the time, and I can already see him starting to connect the hands on the clock with the numbers on the digital display.

We also loved the alarm and night-light function. At bedtime, Tock glows blue, then in the morning it turns green to show when it’s time to get up. This was such a simple but effective way for him to learn the difference between sleep time and morning, and he was so proud of himself the first time he waited until Tock turned green before coming to find me.

This is exactly the kind of thing I’ll be getting our little one when she’s a bit older. I like the idea of them knowing they shouldn’t get out of bed before it turns green x

You are so right, it is important to teach them about time awareness from a young age for your mental health
