With Christmas just a month away, this Children’s Review Toy post of Schleich Horse Club boxes will come in handy if you are wondering what to get your children or little ones who love imaginative play and horse riding. We were sent a couple of boxes by the team from Schleich, the first was their Advent Calendar which we featured in our gift guide last week, followed by two boxes, Rider Cafe and Mia & Spotty. Both boxes are totally different, each consisting of different items and perfect as a Birthday or Christmas present for children. Keep on reading and do take the time to watch the six-minute unboxing video of my kids opening up both the boxes as it will give you an idea of what is included and how imaginative and creative children can get when they play with Schleich Horse Club figurines and horses.

Schleich Horse Club Mia & Spotty
This was the first box which my kids opened and consisted of a girl horse rider, a Shetland pony, a stool, bridle, reins, spyglass, bread, mouse and saddle.
When we did the unboxing, I did not tell the kids what each item was or what the figurine’s character was called, so they came up with their own name and created a scene based on their imagination. It was much later that I shared the following details with them which I found on their website:
Although Mia is only eight years old, she’s not at all afraid of horses. One day, she’s determined to ride horses as big as the ones that Hannah, her older sister and role model, rides. Although Mia and her three-year-old Shetland pony mare Spotty look very sweet together, they’re far more devious than appearances suggest. Mia needs to stand on a stool whenever she mounts her pony Spotty. Movable girl figure can ride, stand, and grip.

Schleich Horse Club Rider café
This is a larger box and consists of 1 cafe, Tom the waiter figurine with detachable apron, Tom’s Pinto stallion, roses, menu board, advertising board, golden key (to open and close the door), counter, cabinet, oven, shelf, coffee machine, till, ceiling lamp, bistro tables, chairs, sunshade, cups, plates, blueberry pies, apple pies, cupcakes, cream topping, lemonade bottles, glass with straw, rosettes, flower vase, bouquet of flowers, tether pole for horses, manger, trough, halter, apples, saddle, bridle and reins, feeding box, sticker as well as the assembly instructions.
Again, when we did the unboxing, I did not tell the kids what each item was or what the figurine’s character was, so they came up with their own names and created a scene based on their imagination. It was much later that I shared the following details with them which I found on their website:
Now The Cups & Saddles is a popular rider’s meeting place in Hazelwood. The four girls leave secret messages for each other here or enjoy a large piece of Carolin Kramer’s famous apple pie, which she regularly bakes for the café. Tom helps behind the counter at the weekend and makes yummy smoothies for the guests. When Tom has time alongside his work in the café, he performs little tricks with his horse Pino. The Tom figure can sit, stand and grasp objects! The Emily figure can move her arms, grasp objects and ride a horse. Tom’s apron is removable while the figurine’s saddle and bridle is detachable. Paddocks have endless possibilities for extension and can be combined with a riding school and horse stalls. The Emily figure can move her arms, grasp objects and ride a horse!

What I thought..or should I say…my kids thought of the two boxes!
I would recommend you to watch the 6-minute unboxing video first, so you get an idea of what is included in each box:
Now both the boxes are such lovely presents to gift to little ones during this festive period especially if they are into horse riding, love Shetland ponies or if you just want to encourage imaginative play. If you are getting these boxes then we would recommend for you to get both the boxes, as Mia & Spotty is a smaller box containing just a few items and is much better when added alongside a larger box such as the Rider Cafe. We have had these boxes open for almost 2 weeks now and both my kids still play with this every day. The items from both the Schleich Mia & Spotty as well as Rider Cafe now have a centre spot on our coffee table. I find that both my kids aged 6+ and 9+ use their imagination and create different stories each time using the figurines and horses. Horse Club Mia & Spotty box is much smaller and straight forward while the Rider Cafe has a lot more items included. Both my kids and I were unable to fix the walls and roof of the cafe when we were assembling the cafe as it did not click easily but we got my husband to help us with that. Otherwise, to be honest, both my kids read through the instruction booklet and assembled everything else on their own.

How much is it and where can I buy it
The Horse Club Mia & Spotty costs £14.99 while the Rider Café is priced at £39.99.

Those toys are amazing! I would definitely love them back when I was little! It makes me think about barbie house! I love that they still producing such a great stuff not just video games!
Agree, we are constantly trying to find ways in which our kids don’t spend time on screens and this is one of them
Sometimes I would like to be a child again just to have fun with games like that!
Well its never too late, if you get one for a friend’s child or family member, you can still play with it
I love toys like this that get back to the simple joys. I’m a child of a generation that came up on Nintendo, so I’m not anti-tech, but I do appreciate the simple things.
We do encourage our kids to play with toys such as this to keep their imagination flowing
My sister loved horses when she was a kid and this would have been a favorite gift of hers. I love how sturdy the pieces look and I love the intense looks on the faces of the kids! That’s the best advertisement ever!
Haha yes, they were so fully into it, but if you see the youtube unboxing video, you will see a lot of smiles
These toy sets are super fun! Any child who loves horses would love opening these on Christmas morning. My girls are already getting into horses at ages 5 and 7.
