We were very excited when the BRIO Remote Control Travel Train arrived for us to review. We love BRIO toys, and if you remember, we recently reviewed and shared about BRIO’s Play & Learn Musical Caterpillar which went down a storm with our readers. In this post, we will be sharing about BRIO’s latest train, the Remote Control Travel Train. Now, our family loves wooden trains and we have built up quite a wooden train collection over the years and the new addition of the BRIO remote-control travel train goes so well with the existing set. Although the new train set is made from plastic, it is still well made and beautifully designed with clean colours. The train set comes with four parts; an electric train engine, a passenger, a carriage and the controls. It also needs 4AA batteries, 2 for the train engine and 2 for the remote control (which is not supplied).

The controls have easy to use functions to help the train stop, move forward and backwards as well as two different forward speeds which comes with an A&B frequency channel to allow multiple RC trains on the same Brio train track. The buttons on the control were perfect for Stanley’s little finger and the design was child friendly as well. There is also a button on the control for you to press to switch on the lights and another to hear a true to life train sound effect. There are also buttons on the top of the train’s engine so you can control the train directly or you could press it if the train goes out of range (which I quite enjoyed pressing when the train headed my way, while Stanley was playing with the remote control).

What is great about the Brio Remote Control Travel Train?
The controls let you move forward and reverse, turn the light on and off and make a noise. My boys loved how realistic the controls of the train are and the wonderful sounds it makes. The controls are clear and straightforward and even Stanley, my youngest who is about 2 years-old grasped this quickly. The buttons and lever are chunky enough for his little hands. Once you get the hang of making sure the train engine and control are not too far away and you point the control at the train you are away. I like how the light and sound buttons have a symbol rather than word to help you know their function. This train is fantastic for pretend play and my eldest son who is 6 years-old used this remote-control train with his existing collection to collect passengers, deliver cargo and save a derailed engine. This BRIO Remote Control Travel Train has already become a firm favourite with my boys, it has good functions and is great value because of the durability, compatibility with the existing BRIO collection and for encouraging imaginative play. The train has brought hours of fun, and we still haven’t had to change the batteries. only downside to this, which we think of is that the BRIO collection of wooden trains always brings so much joy and building the collection up can become addictive in the long run.

How much is it and where can I buy it
Suitable for kids from the age of 3 (Stanley is just 2 years-old but played with it amazingly well), this set costs £29.99 and you can get it here.
