I was really excited to review Thanks to my Hands by Yoly Marshall. A book that teaches children the importance of gratitude, which in our house we believe is such an important habit to learn. We really try to promote positive thinking and remembering the significance of being grateful for the things we have. Gratitude is so powerful, not only to teach you to be thankful for any kindness, gifts or help you receive but it promotes positive emotions and relish in experiences.
I couldn’t think of a better way to start teaching my little one the importance of gratitude and a genuine appreciation of life than with their own body and all the wonderful things it can do.
Learning what they are capable of and expressing gratitude creates a habit that will be worthy to have in years to come.
What did we think of the book?
I loved this book, Teddy may be a little on the younger side to fully appreciate it however, something we have been reading daily and talking about. With the terrible two’s being in full swing, Teddy has been quick to use his hands to ensure nobody can get within arm’s length so we have been teaching the importance of kind hands for some time and I feel this book came just in time to talk about all the amazing things our little hands can do and all the kind things we can do with them. If anything, it has been a quick and effective distraction point. I honestly think it’s such a fab way to begin to teach our little ones the importance of gratitude. A sweet book, which would also be a great addition for schools, nurseries or childminders to have. Something they can read and put it to practice with practical activities.

About the Author
Yoly Marshall was born and raised in Sucre – Bolivia, after getting married she left her homeland to travel around the world and become a mummy. She studied psychology and specialised in Human Resources, is an avid reader and a storyteller from an early age, having had a blog in Spanish and a current blog in English. She is the author of the children’s books: “Thanks to my hands”, “The garden of Uncle Tim” and is currently working on a storybook about dental health for kids and her first novel.
