The New Vic Theatre will revive its acclaimed production of Around The World In 80 Days, this May as part of the theatre’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Originally produced in 2013, the show went on to tour internationally in 2019 with its most recent run at New York’s New Victory Theater. The production now returns to its Staffordshire home.
Adapted from the novel by Jules Verne, Around The World In 80 Days By Laura Eason, will be directed by New Vic Artistic Director Theresa Heskins, whose credits include the Olivier award-winning The Worst Witch (West End); Marvellous, the New Vic production which opened new West End venue @sohoplace and UK Theatre award-winning The Snow Queen, who reunites the creative team and members of the original cast for the revival.
A high-spirited, fast-moving escapade filled with Victorian eccentricity, romance and derring-do, eight actors play a total of 109 characters in this ambitious, action-packed story that follows the journey of Phileas Fogg as he attempts to circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days. Joined by his trusty valet Passepartout, his journey takes him through the atmospheric alleyways of Victorian London, across the subcontinent and through the Wild West, travelling by any means necessary in a race against the clock.
