A Kid’s Guide to New York City

[Ad-gifted] We love travelling but can’t always get to the places we would love to visit, so what better way to get an insight into one of the most recognisable cities in the World, New York – than a handy travel guide. However, this guide isn’t for adults it’s aimed at kids and is a great way to fill them with some culture from across the pond.

New York is well known to most adults but to a younger generation, the big apple might still be a bit unclear and what better way to show them the kind of things they can see than a kids orientated travel guide. Lonely Planet Kid’s Guide to New York City : Let the Adventure Begin! is one of a few guides which is aimed at kids and they also feature other iconic cities around the world including Paris and London.

Guide to New York City

What I thought of the Kid’s Guide to New York City ?

This is a great sized book – its not quite as small as some of the adult sized Lonely Planet Travel guides that I already have at home, which I think is great as this is aimed at kids and having it too small would mean the content inside would be quite small; and not as easy for kids to read.

The book is filled with plenty of photographs which I found more pleasing than is it would be if filled with illustrations. So, it gives you a true idea to the places you might see in New York City.

Kid's Guide to New York City

The book walks you through the marvels of the City through the places that will inspire kids, such as areas to play and great places to eat – but obviously that will appeal to the younger generation, such as sweet shops and hot dog joints!

I love how that although the focus is to captivate kids, it shows you enough that this guide would still be a useful go to for adults! The book is aimed at 12 and under and I think in terms of reading it alone, 12 year olds would really enjoy it, as the facts and information are broken down into small easy to read paragraphs with plenty of photos.

Kid's Guide to New York City

This is a fabulous book for a curious child’s birthday or Christmas, so you if know someone who would like a copy, keep reading to find out where you can get yours.

Where can I buy the Lonely Planet Kid’s Guide to New York City and how much is it?

What a great travel guide and love that it is designed for kids and not adults, a great way to learn about different places and it has everything that a child will want to know about a new city

It was a great book to sit down with my son and discuss about the places we were going to see and explore

I love that they chose photographs over illustrations. It really draws in the kids when they see real-world examples of what they’re reading about.

That sounds like such a great New York travel guide for kids. I know mine are all keen to go which would probably encourage them to have a read of the book so we’d know what they’d like to see!

NYC can be a lot to explore, and it is good for kids to be able to browse through a travel guide. I like my kids to guide us where they would like to go, so this would be the perfect tool for them.

I love this idea of involving kids in places before travelling. I can’t wait to explore the world with our little one when she gets older x
