[Ad-gifted] I love to read Christmas themed books in the lead up to Christmas or just after as it makes Christmas so much more magical. In this post, I am sharing an uplifting festive book titled Christmas at Lobster Bay by Annie Robertson.
Published by Welbeck Publishing, the book as about Emma and how she has moved to Lobster Bay and opened up a Guesthouse. She and her boyfriend Aidan soon decide to expand the Guesthouse as she feels certain it’s the project she needs to develop her beautiful retreat and to keep her and Aidan together.
She has three months to complete the project before her guests arrive for a sumptuous Christmas break. But unforeseen problems soon turn her and her loved ones into festive humbugs. Unexpected structural problems, the arrival of a long-term guest, and an errant puppy who is determined to chew her way through every piece of pipe and furniture, push Emma and Aidan to their limit, and it’s not long before cracks begin to show in their relationship.
Determined not to give up, Emma pushes on. But when a winter storm blows in, work grinds to a halt, pushing Emma and Aidan to the brink.
As Emma battles to keep her dream alive, will it be at the expense of her relationship? And will she eventually, with the help of her friends, finish the house and welcome her guests, with carolling and good cheer, to Christmas at Lobster Bay?

What I thought of the book
This is the second book in the Lobster Bay series which follows straight on from The Guesthouse at Lobster Bay, but don’t worry if you have not read the first book, as you can still read this as a stand-alone book as you will get into the flow of things easily.
Emma runs a Guesthouse at Lobster Bay, an idyllic seaside village. She misses her fast-paced life in London and craves for some excitement hence decides to expand her current guesthouse into her and Aidan’s house, who happens to be her boyfriend. The house comes with a lot of baggage as Aidan’s sister also lives there and this used to be their family home and the only connection they still have with their parents (who died in a car accident). The renovation starts off smoothly but soon this puts a huge strain on Emma and Aidan’s relationship. With more delays and problems cropping up, will she be able to get everything ready for her guests in time for Christmas?
Each character in the book is relatable and beautifully introduced, each with their own life problems. The story shares about sacrifice, friendship, family bond and togetherness in a small Scottish community. Emma is such a strong character but there is so much going against her hence it is wonderful to see how she keeps putting others before her and persevere against all odds. The book is will make you smile and even shed a tear along the way. Most importantly, the book is a great way to escape from where you are to the cosy and warm Guesthouse at Lobster Bay.
How much is Christmas at Lobster Bay and where can you buy it?
The paperback book retails for £7.35 while the kindle copy retails for £4.49. You can purchase a copy of the book from Amazon here. Do check the website for the latest pricing as this may change.
